Got scary crime stats in your city? Just ignore 'em

If one particular commercial airplane crashed twice as often as the industry average, would you think it would be helpful to know that?  After all, if you don't know about how much less reliable one airplane is, how would you know to try to fix it?

How about if a new drug caused three times more fatal side-effects than the one previously used?  Think it'd be useful to know that?

How about if you're interested in finding what group commits crime at a rate far greater than their percentage of the population?  Think that might be good to know?

Obviously yes.  So why would all the TV stations and newspapers in a major city totally ignore a report saying just that?

Because the "elites" have determined it's not politically correct to identify the group identified by that report as being responsible for the disproportionate crime stats.

Now, obviously people of all races commit crimes.  So publishing the statistics no more indicts all members of the same race than claiming that all whites are racist.  And yet, not a single newspaper or TV station in New Orleans has mentioned a report showing that in 2016 one race committed 98% of all shootings, and 95% of all homicides.

Just can't have stats like that being noticed.  You might ask why.
