Battle to de-fund what's amusingly called "public broadcasting"

"CPB" is the "corporation for public broadcasting."  Congress has guaranteed CPB $535 million not only for this year, but also for FY 2026.  Good trick, eh?

The "corporation" also earns a cool ten million a year in "interest," which is kind of interesting, since it means they're sitting on assets of $300 MILLION or so.  For the naive, that's where most of the grift happens, since investments are notoriously...um..."amorphous."

In FY 2024 the CPB had something like $300 million in assets, and for illustrative purposes let's suppose the corporation has $200 million in cash.  One "investment counselor" offers 2% interest on that $200 million, while another offers 3%.

The difference of one percent interest on $200 million is $2 million per year.

SO...CPB's slobbering, ass-kissing lackeys in the Lying Mainstream Media claim "almost all" of the funding goes to the two broadcasters: PBS and NPR.

CPB reported that in 2024 they spent about $59 million on "system support and administration," giving the rest ($486 million) to PBS ($380 million or so) and NPR ($106 million or so).

So let's see what PBS (the TV arm) reports for their budget.  Try googling "budget of pbs 2024."  We'd settle for a pie chart or some similar lie from the leftists themselves, but what we're *really* looking for is PBS's "Form 990" since that's filed under penalty of perjury.

Good damn luck.  You'll find lots of alleged "google hits," but most are "page not found."  Then you find dozens that are NOT from the parent org, but from state orgs.  Google even gives (way early in the list) the *blank IRS form 990*--when the request was for "budget of pbs 2024."  How the hell does that happen?

Eventually you find their Form 990 for 2022.

And what you find is that PBS is sitting on even more "net assets" than CPB: a stunning $411.7 million.  From which they report investment income of $8.45 million.

That's a two percent return.  If you believe those smaaht people, with $400 million in net assets, settled for a two percent return you're naive.

There's a "signature block" to make someone responsible if the return is found to be fraudulent.  But no signature.  Instead there's a printed name of the treasurer and CFO.  Could you get away with that?  No.

The CEO of PBS makes a cool million-plus a year.  Why?  And more to the point, the whole public-broadcasting crap gets over half a BILLION dollars of your money every year, *but leftists claim the govt has no authority over the piece of shit AT ALL.*

Chew on that for a minute.  It's the perfect grift: Taxpayers fund it, but have no say in anything.

SO...Trump has issued an order to cut funding to npr and pbs.  Those two pro-socialist, anti-Trump shithead orgs instantly screamed that this is illegal, and have vowed to fight the loss of federal funding with every means available.

Wait...for the past few years the Lying Mainstream Media have bleated that NPR and PBS only get a paltry *one percent* of their funding from taxpayers (cunningly mis-named as "the government.")  If true, losing it would be no big loss, eh?

The key phrase there is "If true."  If it were true it would mean their budget was 100 times $535 million, or $53 billion.  That's grotesquely off.  So the sons of whores have lied brazenly, to make taxpayers believe public broadcasting cost essentially nothing.

Lies, lies, brazen lies.  Just one more leftist outlet, funded at $535 mill per year by taxpayers--who get no choice.

Fuck 'em.  If leftists want the propaganda (which they do), let them fund it from donations.  But of course the courts won't let that happen.  Congress could defund, but they won't.
