Owner of 6th-largest refinery in California says it's gonna close; leftists cheer

The sixth-largest refinery in California will likely be closed by next April.  

Valero Petroleum's CEO announced that its "Benicia Bay" refinery will be closed due to California’s "tough regulatory and enforcement environment.”  The announcement came six months after state "air quality regulators" fined the company a staggering $82 million for "exceeding emissions standards" for at least 15 years.
 
The refinery contributes almost 20% of the budget of the small town of Benicia (population 27,000).

Of course Valero obviously doesn't wanna walk away from a billion-dollar refinery--and no other company is likely to buy it.  Tough decision, but if they do what they say, California leftists will be delighted.  If the small town's tax revenue falls by 20%, leftists will just shrug.  "We din' want dat nasty refinery dere anyway!"

Remove 9% of the state's gasoline production, and what do ya think that'll do to the price of gasoline in Cali, eh?

Leftists: "Uhh...umm...nuffin?"

Nice try, morons.  Ya might try taking a fucking economics class.  When demand suddenly exceeds supply by nine percent, the price will rise, costing "normal, working Americans" more.  An' yew fucking Democrats bleat that yew care about duh working folks, eh?  No ya don't.  You only care about The Agenda, and if that Agenda hurts working folks, tough shit, eh?  Cuz you don't really give a shit about "working folks."  That's just the Narrative of all leftists, everywhere.

Dems: "If polluting motorists have to pay an extra 40 cents a gallon for gas, it's well worth it!  Dat'll get 'em to buy one of doze faaaabulous EVs, wif' batteries from Chyna!  Cuz we gots TONS of electricity!  An' it's free, and doesn't produce any of dat awful poison CO2!"

I'm trying to decide whether to hate leftists for being so fucking dumb, or pity 'em.

Postscript: San Francisco's utterly leftist, incompetent PBS station (KQED) published this gem: "[The refinery] produces up to 145,000 barrels of crude oil a day, which is about 9% of the state’s production."

No, leftist morons, refineries don't produce ANY crude oil.  But we understand that leftists aren't concerned with such subtle distinctions.  The only thing that matters to you is The Agenda of the utterly corrupt Democrat party.
