Walz says "The electoral college needs to go." The campaign says "He din' mean dat."

Two days ago Kamala's moronic VP pick Tim Walz was at a fundraiser in California, and bleated this:

"I think all of us know the electoral college needs to go. We need [to elect the president by the winner of the) national popular vote."

The fact that this method is explicitly specified in the Constitution is airily dismissed--because "We need this," says the moronic pedo thug.

Make no mistake: residents of most big-population states totally support this, because it would give 'em more power (and more federal money).

Of course small-population states would lose both, so you might think Democrats who live in the smaller states would be against this change.  But they're not, because it would ensure that their corrupt, thuggish party won every presidential election, since the high-population states are Democrat-ruled.

Now Cackles's staffers have "walked back" Walz’s bleat that the electoral college "needs to go," saying that's not the official position of the campaign.  Really?  Then why did he say it?  Is he just that stupid?

Of course the answer is "Yes, and everyone knows it."

In a written statement issued after Walz's bleat, the campaign campaign staff piously assured voters that having the president elected by the winner of the national popular vote is not Cackles's official position.

Except the written statement didn't say anything like that.  Here's what a staffer told the media:

"Governor Walz believes every vote matters in the Electoral College."

That's clearly NOT a rejection of what he said--but that's how every mainstream media outlet interpreted it--which was the goal.

For Americans who don't follow politics closely: Democrats have wailed for years that "duh electoral college is UNFAIR!  It beez unfair cuz ouah partei haz won duh popular vote but lost duh EC vote!  So, see?"

During her short, disastrous 2020 presidential run Cackles said she was "open to the discussion" of abolishing the electoral college--meaning to change to electing the president by the winner of the national popular vote.  Think she would have taken this position if she did NOT want that result?

Now: if you have even a vague understanding of the Constitution you know that while the Supreme Court can "impute" rules into that document that aren't actually there, unequivocal directives in it can only be changed by "amending" it, and that this can only be done if two-thirds of the states "ratify" the amendment.

Since only a dozen states would benefit from abolishing the electoral college, that's highly unlikely.  So you may think this is much ado about nothing.  But it's not, because for the last 20 years Democrats have quietly been pushing a cunning plan called the "National Popular Vote Interstate Compact."

The Constitution allows states to form "compacts" among themselves.  This one specifies that once states with 270 EVs have signed a state law joining the compact, it will automatically take effect.  And its sole term is that member states agree to award their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote.

Now you may think that since all small states will be hugely disadvantaged by this, the Democrat could never get enough states to pass the law joining the "compact," eh?

Except in years when a small state has a Dem governor and Dem-ruled legislature, they pass the law joining the compact--and subsequent Republican legislatures never even try to repeal it.  And Dem governors would never sign that repeal into law anyway, eh?

States with 209 EVs have passed laws joining the compact.  When they get states with another 61 EVs, the "joining laws" say it automatically takes effect.  Hmmm....

You really, really need to pay attention to what the Democrats are doing.  But you won't, and I understand: You're too busy trying to keep your kids off drugs, and keep food on the table, and a roof over your family's heads, and paying your far-too-high taxes, to worry about such esoteric stuff as ending the electoral college.

The Democrats and the Media understand that too.  Very, very well.
