NY Democrat gov. Cuomo’s new no-bail law frees 61 gang members just on Long Island
Democrat politicians have always been apologists for criminals. If someone commits a heinous crime it's never the fault of the perp, but instead is "society's fault." They've consistently opposed meaningful sentences, and their courts routinely plead serious crimes down to trivial ones, because it reduces their workload and wins a "conviction."
And as of January 1st, New York took this one step further: A state law took effect that lets criminals out of jail without making them post bail, for all but the most serious crimes.
As an example, someone who tried to burn down an occupied building can walk out with no bail.
Because of the new law, 61 known gang members who were jailed on Long Island have been turned loose on the streets, without having to post bail. Residents of Long Island were thrilled with this new, more compassionate approach. "It's great that these unfortunate young men have been set free," said one. "They just didn't know it was against our law to steal or sell drugs. No one should have to stay in jail because they're too poor to bond out. The new law is the only fair way for a society to operate."
Interesting experiment they've got going there. But it's gotta work, right?
