WaPo declared Trump was "the greatest threat facing the U.S."--way back in July of 2017

Somehow I missed this:  Way back in 2017 the Trump-hating Washington Post declared that Trump was unfit to be president.  He'd been in office for just five-and-a-half months, hadn't gone to war, hadn't imprisoned a single Democrat or media asshat, but no matter: the Post had seen enough!

The greatest threat facing the United States is its own president

by David Rothkopf

Whether he is actually clinically ill is a matter for psychiatric professionals to consider. But when you take the above behaviors and combine them with his resistance to doing the work needed to be president, to sitting down for briefings, to reading background materials, to familiarizing himself with details enough to manage his staff, there is clearly a problem.

Compound it with his deliberate reluctance to fill key positions in government and his wild flip-flopping on critical issues from relations with China to trade, and you come to a conclusion that it may be that Trump’s fitness to serve as president is our nation’s core national security issue.

Not only does the president diminish the office with his pettiness; he also shows disregard for constitutional principles including free speech, freedom of religion and separation of powers,
Post says Trump shows disregard for free speech?  Example?  Same for freedom of religion and separation of powers.  No cites, no examples, let alone links, just bullshit claims.  Typical.
...and he operates as though he were above ethics laws. Daily he shows he lacks the character, discipline, intellect, judgment or respect for the office to be president of the United States.
"And ya know what else?  If he's elected the economy is gonna CRASH!!!!!  We're all gonna DIE!!  Look at how he's destroyed all the racial harmony built up by our wonderful Obama!  And the roaring economy Obama built!
In normal times, this would be worrying. But look at the news. North Korea is moving closer to having the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon to the United States. A confrontation is coming that will be a test of character pitting North Korea’s unhinged leader, Kim Jong Un, against our leader.
"Yeah, look at North Korea!!  They're about to have enough nuclear weapons and missiles to threaten the U.S. west coast!  So we need to have a very strong president to face Kim down!  Well, unless Trump does that, in which case it'll be exactly the wrong move, cuz what's REALLY needed is a soft approach, appeasement, as our sainted Bill Clinton demonstrated when he got North Korea to absolutely, positively promise to give up their nuclear weapons program back in 1996.  All he had to do was give them half a million tons of fuel oil and another half-million tons of wheat.  See, that's how a master negotiator does it!  Much better than that reckless, probably crazy amateur Trump!"

Yeah, the Post really, really knows stuff, eh?
