Children being punished for failing to memorize religious verse properly; (viewer caution)

How do you suppose the NY Times would react if it were to find a video of an adult in some weird, tiny Christian sect slapping young children across the face for failing to memorize a Bible verse properly?

Think the Times and CNN and MSNBC and the WaPo would react the same--screaming outrage? 

But the video below isn't of Christian children, but of Muslim children being punished for failing to memorize Koran verses properly.

There are no words to describe the anger I think most Americans feel from watching this.  And I think it speaks to a fundamental in the value system of the people doing this.
