More on the Left's claim that the century-old "okay" sign is really a sekrit white-power sign
For at least two years now the Left has been pushing the idea that the century-old "okay" sign is really a super-sekrit symbol that means "White Power!!"
When numerous far-saner people pointed out that the "okay" symbol had been around for a century or so, and has been used by people like emperor Obama, Kanye West and others on the Left, moonbats quickly pivoted to "You don't understand: When someone 'throws' this sign [to use the gang term] the meaning totally depends on the context, citizen!" When good people like former president an winner of the Nobel peace prize Barack Obama makes the sign, it means 'okay.' But when a Trump supporter or advisor makes the sign, it means 'White Power'!"
Wait...so the exact same hand-sign, when used by people on your side, is completely innocuous, but when used by Trump supporters is sinister, raaacist, divisive, even conspiratorial. Ah, now we understand.
Other skeptics pointed to a troll-post on 4chan in February of 2017, announcing "operation O-KKK." Screenshot below:
But Leftists were determined that the okay sign was sinister. They didn't know if it had always been sinister, or when it changed from innocuous to sinister, but those details could be waved away. Here's a quote by moonbat Emily Pothast from a thing called Medium.com:
As proof, Emily discovered actual photos of various Trump supporters giving the "okay" sign as far back as 2015!!
"SEE??! Trump supporters! Using this sekrit power sign BEFORE the 4chan troll post! What more proof do you need?"
In fact, on election night way back in 2016 one of Emily's sources found a tweet from Richard Spencer of himself flashing the OK sign in front of a Trump hotel with the caption “Tonight’s the night.”
Wow, you got us, Emily. How could anyone ask for more proof indeed?

A lot of people mistakenly think the alt-right's use of the gesture originated with this 4chan hoax. But by the time this post was made in February 2017, the OK sign was well established as a far-right meme. The 4chan post is therefore evidence not of the creation of a hoax ex nihilo, but an instance of obfuscation, generating confusion over the origins of a preexisting phenomenon.
Given the timing, it’s not unlikely that tricking people into mistakenly tracing the origins of the meme to the post was part of its intended purpose. Perhaps the only thing here that can be taken at face value is its intention to bait leftists into acting “crazy” so that liberals and centrists will keep their distance.Ah, NOW we understand: The post on 4chan was even more evidence of a vast right-wing conspiracy, designed to mislead Americans as to the true origins of the sign's true meaning. Yeah.
