How much have single-parent households increased, and why?

In 1960, nine percent of U.S. children lived with just one parent.

Today, 23 percent of U.S. children live with a single adult.

But you are instructed, citizen, to ignore the above facts.  They mean nothing.  They affect nothing.  And anyone who disagrees is either raaacist or anti-feminist or fascist or Nazi or...or...well, something else equally horrible, fer shure!

Let me quickly say there are lots of exceptions.  Lots of parents divorce amicably, and raise children with the love and influence of both.  Also, lots of single mothers are amazing in their ability to raise a child single-handed.  But with those things said, the most accurate single statistical predictor of being poor or a violent felon is being raised by a single parent.

Again, there are obviously lots of exceptions, but those exceptions don't negate the damage done by hundreds of thousands of violent, dysfunctional males.

It seems astonishingly worthwhile to try to find the cause of the huge increase in familial dysfunction.  Seems to me things started going south (in a hurry) when the liberals who have always run (and continue to run) 99 percent of all levels of gruberment passed laws that promised to give single mothers cash for having kids.

This idea came from the perfectly wonderful, true idea that children are blameless--they obviously don't have any choice of their parents.  So the motive of liberals was good, but seems to have set America on a course certain to have disastrous results.

Specifically:  I don't see that congress will change welfare rules in any significant way (at least not in a helpful way).  In that case, what alternative is left?  Resurgence of religion, maybe?  Beats me.

One thing seems certain:  Our politicians and culture-setters have been developing our demise with a toxic combination of feminism and the welfare state, which together favor single-parent households.

If moonbat liberalism destroys America it will be by undermining the best person-raising concept in history: the two-parent household.
