Hot new trend in Dem-ruled cities: They just won't prosecute most non-violent crime! Uh...IF...

One of the certain signs of a corrupt society is when those charged with upholding and enforcing the law unilaterally decide to stop prosecuting their friends for breaking the law.

In the bad old days, if a majority of people found a given law unfair or too burdensome, they'd push their legislators to modify or repeal it.  But corruptoccrats don't feel the need to go to that much trouble.  Instead prosecutors--sometimes acting on their own, and sometimes on the orders of their political bosses--simply decide not to prosecute certain lawbreakers.

Under this corrupt system those who are either connected or members of the prosecutors' tribe can break laws without prosecution.  But "ordinary" citizens--those who aren't members of the favored group, or powerful elites, will continue to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.  Cuz "the same laws apply to everyone, right?"

Ah, I detect cries of "Conspiracy-monger!" and "Tinfoil-hat stuff!" from my liberal PhD friend.  Okay, consider the following examples:
  • Chicago, a month ago:  Black DA dismisses 16 felony counts against hate-crime hoaxer Jussie Smollet; claims this is routine; asks her state's DA's to search records for an example; no one can find any;
  • Dallas, two weeks ago: Black DA announces he won't prosecute theft if the value of the stolen goods is less than $750, "provided the theft is not for personal gain."  This makes no sense, since all theft is done to gain the thief something.  But it doesn't need to make sense, because the DA's superiors are on-board with the new, corrupt system.
  • Boston:  Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins--who's black--believes too many blacks are charged with crimes, so she's vowed to fix that, by not charging some people if they commit crimes she doesn't want to prosecute, claiming they're "less serious crimes."  Like trespassing, to drug possession with intent to distribute, all the way to “resisting arrest.”  Thus Ms. Rollins' people can do any of these former crimes without being prosecuted.  Full list:

If you're a shoplifter or a "fence" (people who pay thieves for loot and re-sell at a profit) or a thug who wants to intimidate a witness, or a vandal, you'll love this new policy.  But would anyone care to hazard a prediction on how honest, hardworking people in Boston will fare under these new rules?

Gee, it's a mystery.
