Democrat leaders embracing socialism, but have no idea how to pay for it
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the new darling of the Democrat party--and thus the new star of the Democrat-loving mainstream media as well.
She's a registered member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Since her upset victory in the Democratic primary race for New York’s 14th Congressional District she's appeared on countless mainstream media outlets, and many high-ranking Democrats are echoing her socialist ideas and eagerly inviting her to their campaign rallies,--omething that would have been unthinkable just a couple of decades ago.
Ocasio-Cortez says "I believe that in a modern, moral and wealthy society, no person in America should be too poor to live. That’s what I feel.”
What a wonderful idea! Brilliant! No person in this country should be "too poor to live."
Fair enough. So how does she plan to actually DO this? Well, she sees “health care as a human right” and that “every child, no matter where you are born, should have access to a college or trade school education if they so choose it.” And "No person should be homeless if we can have public structures and public policy to allow for people to have homes and food and lead a dignified life in the United States.”
Okay, those are all great *goals.* Unfortunately the question was "How do you plan to actually DO these things?"
This is socialism in a nutshell: State goals as programs, and count on no one in the media asking how the goals will be paid for, or who will pay.
It's exactly the type of nonsensical "reasoning" that's always support ed by low-information, well-intentioned folks who don’t understand a single thing about how governments get the money they spend. Such people are drawn to socialists like Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, Hilliary, Kamala, Corey Booker and Ocasio-Cortez because they offer voters "free" shit, and don't really care what means is found to pay for the "freebies." “
The entire platform is "Elect us and 'government' will pay for your housing, health care, food and education. And if you want more, we promise to give you anything you want!”
This is what passes for brilliance on the Democrat side today.
