Another example of the Left shrieking about why da' eeeeebil Trumpkin gotta be impeached is Bears
Ears National
Monument in southern Utah.
Bears Ears is not a monument in any normal sense. Instead it's a region of over 2,100 square miles in southern Utah-- more than twice the size of Rhode Island--that was seized by Obama on Dec 28, 2016 less than a month before the end of da emperor's 8-year reign.
So what prompted Obama to seize 2100 square miles, transferring ownership from the state of Utah to the federal gruberment? Why, how could you even ask such a thing, citizen? Everyone knows that area is absolutely filled with massive natural arches, huge stone bridges cut by rivers over millenia, unique and irreplaceable!
Oh wait, that's Arches National Park, home to 2000 arches--and totalling just under 120 square miles.
Okay, Bears Ears is probably where those 3 famous natural bridges are, northwest of the Four Corners area.
Oh wait, those unique geological features were "secured" by the federal gruberment ages ago, in, um...Natural Bridges National Monument. Fabulous. And how big is that national monument?
Um...12 square miles.
So what was so amazingly unique in the 2100 square miles that Obozo's regime seized two days before New Year's, in the last full month of his term? I'll admit the area is certainly as picturesque as the rest of plain ol' garden variety southern Utah. Which is to say, not much different from the rest of the state. If you found something uniquely worth seizing there--native American ruins, f'rinstance--it'd make far more sense to grab ten square miles around each and have done with it.
And that's what the Trump administration’s Interior Department just did: reduced the size of the Bears Ears monument to a far more manageable 201,876 acres–still over 300 square miles.
And predictably, the Left has gone bonkers. It's an outrage!!! A CRISIS! A plot to destroy the entire environment of the planet!
That's it, Democrats: Keep the outrage-meter cranked up to "insane," cuz more of your peeps will support Trump's impeachment. And frankly, I think all your followers will agree that reducing the size of a national monument from 2100 square miles to a mere 300 is exactly what the Founders had in mind when they wrote "high crimes and misdemeanors."
