Report from a Muslim-dominated zone in Paris

Some people, if you are nice to them, don't see it that way.

Instead, they regard you as STUPID and themselves as CLEVER, because they believe they were able to "con you" out of whatever they got from you.

Several people who have spent time in the middle-east say there's a lot of that sort of attitude there.

And it will not come as a surprise that this sort of attitude, combined with the modern western welfare state, produces some wholly unexpected results.

I'm kidding, of course: The results are completely, totally predictable. And were in fact predicted. But the people who warned of the inevitable result had no power and were shouted down by their "more enlightened" fellow citizens.

For the result we turn to a French blogger, a native of France who lived and worked for six years in Africa after finishing his education. He pretended to convert to Islam in order to marry a Muslim African woman, and between his Muslim wife and his experience in Africa he has an unusual degree of access to regions of Paris that are essentially off-limits to non-Muslims.

Short answer: For years the French government has given poor immigrants from North Africa government housing. Somewhere along the way two of these immigrants who were women ostensibly living alone were found to actually be married--to the same man.

As France has always had laws against bigamy, the bureaucrats set about yanking the offenders off the welfare rolls and out of their state apartments. But of course, this didn't happen.

"Oh nooooo!" wailed the bleeding heart liberal socialists, "you can't stop giving these women their welfare checks! You can't boot them out of their public housing! Because according to the customs of their native culture they didn't do anything wrong!"

At which point the bureaucrats--as is typical for those in such positions--frantically looked around in search of some guidance from their superiors as to what said superiors wanted the bureaucrats to do.

But the higher-ups--dependent of course on liberal votes to stay in power--offered only vague generalizations about hope and change and how Islam was "the relion of peace." In other words, they Barracked the question.

With the result that it became official policy to let immigrants with multiple wives collect welfare checks and a state-owned apartment for each wife.

Within days--much to the surprise of no one--it was if the floodgates had opened: Tens of thousands of immigrants--realizing they could easily double or triple their monthly income without a lick of work--suddenly had two, three, four or more wives.

And kids. Lots of kids.

And the French state dutifully continued to take earnings at gunpoint from French workers to keep the legions of polygamous Muslims in their council-houses and welfare checks.

Ain't social welfare wonderful?

Now let's play a hypothetical: Suppose the custom in an immigrant's native country permits him to "marry" a cooperative woman simply by saying "We are now married" the proper number of times and consummating the "marriage." Does any reader believe there is any controlling legal authority that would permit a France or UK to not pay welfare benefits to the new "wives?" After all, it's their custom, right? So who are we to say they can't do that?

But hey, it doesn't matter, eh? Because the liberal-socialist-Democrats keep insisting to us that "all cultures are equal."

If that's the case, shouldn't matter what the ethnic makeup of France (or the U.K., or the U.S.) is in 50 years.

Whew! That's a relief! 'Cause for a second there I was starting to worry!
