Democrats in their own words

I really don't believe most "rank-and-file" Democrats want to destroy the U.S., or the free market, nor do I believe most of 'em want to live under socialism.

Rather, I think most "ordinary" Democrats are basically good people, who strongly dislike injustice and unfair fights. In this we agree.

Democratic politicians, on the other hand, strike me as consistently refusing to play fair. Most of the programs they push are so obviously (to me, anyway) flawed--i.e. will obviously result in hugely bad outcomes-- that I can only conclude one of two things: If they truly do not see the overwhelmingly likely disastrous outcome of these programs, they're dumber than hammered duckshit; or if they do see the likely outcome, they're deliberately advocating programs that will cripple this nation in a very short time.

Also, while pols from both parties are known for making "campaign promises" that they have no chance of keeping, my sense is that Dem leaders see not the slightest problem in making contradictory statements on consecutive weeks. To me this seems to prove a "say anything to get elected" attitude--an attitude I find revolting.

It's almost as if they knew they had nothing to fear from an inquisitive, alert, unbiased media.

So herewith, some quotes from Democratic "leaders:"

"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket....
--Barrack Obama, January 2008

"With my plan, your taxes will not increase one dime if you make less than 250 grand per year."
--Obama

"Your taxes are going to go up. I think it's better that we spread the wealth around."
--Obama to Joe the Plumber, Fall 2008.

"What they'll say [about health-care "reform"] is, 'Well it costs too much money.' But you know what? It would cost, about... It -- it -- it would cost about the same as what we would spend... It... Over the course of 10 years it would cost what...it would cost us... (nervous laugh) All right. Okay. We're going to... It... It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about -- hold on one second. I can't hear myself."
--Obama

"Health Care Reform will not add one dime to the deficit"
--Obama

"Your employer...would see [health insurance] premiums fall by as much as 3,000 percent, which means they could give you a raise."
--Obama, March 15, 2010

For the mathematically-challenged, something falling to half its original value is said to have fallen 50 percent. A cost that completely vanished would be reduced by 100%. It's not possible to reduce anything by more than 100%.

Had this "premiums will fall by 3000 percent" statement been made by a Republican the MFM would have been all over it asking for clarification and ridiculing the speaker's ignorance of basic math. But of course the MFM uses far different rules when it comes to gaffes by Democratic pols.

"The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries."
--Obama, Jan. 28, 2010

"And guess what this member would be all about? This member would be all about socializing....er, uh... [pause]... would be about... [pause] basically taking over, and the government running all of your companies.
--Dem representative Maxine Waters to president of Shell Oil, at congressional hearing.

"Unemployment compensation creates jobs"
--Nancy Pelosi

"We have to pass the health care bill in order to find out what's in it."
--Nancy Pelosi

"Over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go."
--Obama

[Celebrations like iftar dinners] "remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam's role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."
--Obama in written statement Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Guess that 'tolerance and dignity of all' bullshit doesn't include the women stoned for adultery or subjected to genital mutilation. Or gays hanged. Or schoolgirls shot for the anti-Islamic 'crime' of...going to school. Can't have that, now.

"Let me say this to all of the chattering class, that so much focus on those little, tiny, yes, porky amendments: The American people really don't care."
--Senator Chuck Schumer, D-NY

"I had no idea that my publishing this letter stating that IndyMac was insolvent would start a bank run."
--Chuck Schumer

IMO all the above Democratic "leaders" have clearly shown that they are either malevolent or too dumb to be trusted. I would like to think there are smart, non-malevolent Democrats out there. If so, there's a chance we could find a few shared goals and perhaps work together to yet save this great country from the approaching disaster(s).

I know--'What the hell am I smoking?'
