New York governor pushes to abolish the electoral college

New York governor Kathy Hochul just said--on video--that she wants to abolish the Electoral College system of electing our president.

Hochul is unbelievably stupid, but even she almost certainly knows that even if congress (spit!) could be bribed into passing a constitutional amendment, you'd never get a majority of voters in the low-population states to vote to ratify it.  And since two-thirds of the states must vote to ratify amendments for them to pass, that's a dead end.

But since 2006 Democrat "elites" have been pushing a workaround...a way the Dems can FORCE the nation to elect presidents by the winner of the national popular vote without having to amend the Constitution (which they don't have enough support to do).

It's cunning and clever and is explained here.  Hochul is pushing this because electing the president by the winner of the national popular vote means the high-population states (mainly New York and California) will be able to decide who wins the presidency.  Hochul knows New Yorkers would love that.

So her push wins her support, and big-state Democrat votes.  Clever.
