Small-town library carries books for kids showing gay sex; parents object; library ignores 'em; then...

Last Tuesday, in the small town of Patmos, Michigan, there was a tiny victory for reason.

The local public library--like almost all libraries across the country-bought and prominently displayed the usual assortment of "grooming" books for kids.  You know, the ones with explicit drawings of gay sex, urging kids to change sex and otherwise pushing the LGBTQ+ agenda.

Some parents in the little town thought that was inappropriate (which it is for kids who don't have any perspective yet), and objected.

The director of the library told 'em to go pound sand.

Parents organized and started to notice who was actually running taxpayer-funded things like the library, compared to taxpayers who were funding the thing but weren't getting any say at all in whether the library had an entire section devoted to pushing the gay and trans agenda to ten-year-olds.

As it happens, Patmos--like lots of other towns--funded its library by a "millage" assessment on ad-valorem taxes.  (For students, that's the yearly tax your folks must pay a city or county to keep their home.) And this year the library--like all "public" entities--wanted to get more money, so the town pols put a measure on the ballot to increase property taxes a bit to do that.

The concerned parents organized, explained the problem, and urged people to vote "no".

WELL...the election was last Tuesday and you'll never guess what happened: the measure failed.  The public said "NO" to public employees telling 'em to shut up and fuck off.

The leftist cesspool "Vice" reported the defeat as happening "after a local conservative group led a campaign against the inclusion of LGBTQ+ books and accused library staff of 'trying to groom our children' *by simply putting them on bookshelves."*

Did you notice the cunning propaganda in that last sentence?  "By simply putting books on bookshelves." How could anyone possibly object, eh?

Really?  Suppose your library "simply put books on shelves" advocating killing stray kittens and puppies, or praising Adolph Hitler, or proposing that blacks be deported to Africa.  Does any rational person think library directors would just shrug and say "It's just a matter of opinion.  We just put any kind of books on shelves so kids can be exposed to all different viewpoints and then decide for themselves"?

Of course not.

Vice again: "[The conservative group] purports to be promoting awareness of 'the pushed agenda of explicit sexual content that is being infiltrated into our local libraries aiming toward our children.' ”

Oh certainly.  "Purports to be promoting awareness of the 'pushed agenda...' They're not *really* promoting awareness, citizen.  No no no.  They're just "purporting to be promoting awareness."  They're really a "violent right-wing militia group" or something.

Or perhaps the Vice writer meant "awareness of the *purported agenda* of explicit sexual content being infiltrated into local libraries aimed at children."  Because Vice wants you to belive there's no *actual* agenda to put these books into local libraries--even school libraries used by ten-year-olds--to "aim" them at children, eh?

No no no, citizen!  These books just spontaneously appeared on the shelves!  No "agenda" whatsoever!

Of course not.  No staff member would order any of these books without the explicit permission of the library's director.  That would be a career-ending move.

But directors of libraries don't believe they have to answer to local taxpayers.  Instead they get what amount to their orders from the American Library Association--one of the goofiest left-wing organizations on the planet.

The chair of the town's library board said the conservative parents wanted to ban books, which is unacceptable."

Notice the propaganda again: He knows Americans equate "banning books" with the Nazi's, who infamously burned books the regime didn't like.  You're not pro-Nazi, are ya?

But the parents' group didn't want to ban the books.  That was a lie.  Fake news, from Vice, one of many pushers of fake newz.  But it should be obvious that there are some books that children shouldn't be able to read until they have enough experience to put things in context.  Or would you communist sons of bitches dispute that too?

One of the books in the library was a "graphic novel" titled "Gender Queer."  For those of you over 40, "graphic novel" is a PhD term for a comic book--meaning every line of dialog is accompanied by an illustration.

The chair of the library’s board quickly covers his ass, blaming another entity for the book selections:  He says the library "follows the Michigan Library Association’s code of conduct."  Ah, that's...um...reassuring, eh?  Cuz as long as we're following orders everything's good, eh?

Say, wonder where the Michigan Library Association gets their orders?

You guessed it: from the American Library Association.  Which is a bunch of communists from top to bottom.

The chair of the local library's board now huffs that the "code of conduct" imposed by the *state* library board says “trustees need to put their personal bias aside and represent the whole community.  LGBTQ books are protected by the First Amendment, and the library board is just trying to be fair and neutral.”

Wow that is SO high-sounding, eh?  But it's horseshit, as the chair well knows.  Example: Suppose a book was published urging that blacks be deported to Africa.  Think the Patmos library would allow that book?

Not a chance.  "But 'First Amendment,' citizen!"

"Sorry, libraries have rules..."

"But you just said the board must be 'fair and neutral,' eh?  Excluding this point of view is definitely not being neutral."

[crickets]

Now watch as the Vice author works to convince readers that the Patmos library is all about wholesome "programming" (the Vice author's term) for kids:
>>Despite residents’ accusations, the Patmos Library’s programming has been decidedly bland. Oover the last few months it has been promoting radical events such as a "Family Movie Night" featuring screenings of the movies like Finding Dory and Jaws, "Teen Summer Laser Tag," a teen board game night, a puppet show about fish, a Father's Day arts and crafts event, a family concert, and a blood donation drive in partnership with a local medical facility. >>

Vice again: "Libraries across the country have recently become a culture war battleground, facing an unprecedented number of book challenges and bans from conservative and *far-right extremist groups* opposed to the inclusion of LGBTQ+ authors, staff, and events.

Vice says the director of the Patmos library, Amber McLain, says she resigned earlier this year, claiming she'd been harassed in-person and online by members of the conservative parent group.  You'd think that if this was true, Vice would have told readers the dramatic details, eh?  But we know that liberal school board members claim parents are harassing *them* by trying to read excerpts from "gay graphic novels" found in their schools during public meetings, so I suspect Amber's claims are drama.

McLain whines about "attacks on libraries."  It truth McLain bought and displayed books that may be acceptable kid reading in a liberal hell-hole like New York City, but that parents of the tiny town of Patmos didn't want their kids to read until they were old enough to have a far better handle on life.  McLain ignored 'em, so the parents showed McLain who she was supposed to be working for.

Naturally McLain and Vice and the gay/tranny mafia hated it, and are doing everything possible to tar the parents as religious fanatics.

Board chair Walton said “It’s always been the goal between the library board and the township that we would be independent.”  That's not true:  It was the socialist gays on the library board who wanted to "be independent" *from depending on the taxpaying parents,* allowing them pushing their agenda regardless of what the townspeople wanted.

The "executive director of the EveryLibrary Institute" said “I'm concerned that this religiously-powered *anti-access*  *anti-person* campaign has succeeded in a small town in America already.”

Wow, propaganda much?  "Anti-person"?  That's pure horse-shit.  No.  But are parents opposed to letting the gay and tranny mafia groom their ten-year-old kids in a tiny town?  Yes.

He continued, “The idea that there is...a rise of a political perspective that *wants to essentially break government,* *defund education* and [criminalize human rights] is a troubling moment and a signal for the rest of America to wake up.”

Oh there's a signal to wake up all right.  Normal parents need to wake up to the relentless push by the gay/tranny folks to put fawning descriptions of gay oral sex in school libraries and public libraries, for kids to access before they know anything that would give 'em any perspective.

[What the obviously propaganda-pushing "executive director" above really said in that explanatory bracket after "defund education" was  "a rise of political perspective that approaches issues around the rights of individual humans as if it was a criminalization campaign."  That's a huge word-salad that I translated as "to criminalize human rights."

But as should be obvious to every rational adult, seeking to keep pro-gay/trans books out of kids' hands is NOT "criminalizing human rights," as this son of a bitch well knows.  Again, he wails that not wanting certain books to be in the library of a small town is "criminalizing human rights," but he would never allow books HE didn't like to go into that same library.

You know it, and he knows it.  But that's too obvious and logical, so he re-frames the debate as "You're criminalizing human rights!"  Cuz most people bite on the mis-lead.

Anyway, I thought it was a tiny win for conservative parents--and one to be welcomed.
