2015 paper--on govt website--shows NIAID funded creation of "chimeric" hybrid coronavirus able to kill humans

Just stumbled on what appears to be the Smoking Gun on Covid19: the tweet below.

Note the date of the tweet: late Feb of 2020, exactly one month after the first case of covid was  confirmed in the U.S.  So this was known within a month after the first confirmed case in the U.S.

Then note the date referred to in the text of the tweet: 2015.  This is almost certainly referring to the work done by Ralph Baric, who was working closely with Fauci and Peter Daszak (Fauci's funding cutout).

If you're not fluent in reading tech papers on virus studies, let me help: "Chimeric" (in this case) means giving an animal virus the ability to infect human cells--in this case cells in the human airway containing an "ACE2 receptor"--which is precisely what covid-19 does.

"BSL" is "biosafety level."  Level 4 is the highest, supposedly only for labs with all the latest faabulous barriers to anything getting out.  Interestingly, the ONLY level-4 lab in China is the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

2015 ??  Let's look at the paper the guy cites: Here's the first page:

Look at the last two names on the author list: Zhengli-Li Shi is the notorious "bat lady" who headed much of the research splicing new genes into bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute.  And the last name is Ralph Baric, who appears in several Fauci emails.  Baric works at UNC Chapel Hill.

Now let's look at some of the text.

Abstract

The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)-CoV underscores the threat of cross-species transmission events leading to outbreaks in humans. Here we examine the disease potential of a SARS-like virus, SHC014-CoV, which is currently circulating in Chinese horseshoe bat populations. Using the SARS-CoV reverse genetics system, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone. The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild-type backbone can efficiently use multiple orthologs of the SARS receptor human angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2), replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV. Additionally, in vivo experiments demonstrate replication of the chimeric virus in mouse lung with notable pathogenesis. Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from infection with CoVs using the novel spike protein. On the basis of these findings, we synthetically re-derived an infectious full-length SHC014 recombinant virus and demonstrate robust viral replication both in vitro and in vivo. Our work suggests a potential risk of SARS-CoV re-emergence from viruses currently circulating in bat populations.

This is the "smoking gun."  The authors proudly describe having created a new "chimeric virus" composed of a bat coronavirus spike protein bonded to a "SARS-CoV backbone."   They note that their new hybrid virus "replicates efficiently in primary human airway cells" and has "notable pathogenesis" (i.e. causes "notable" disease; you're left to guess what they mean by "notable").

Finally they note that neither immune therapies nor "prophylactic modalities" (treatment of infected subjects with drugs) protected the unfortunate mice.

In the "Main" section of the paper they note

we built a chimeric virus encoding a novel, zoonotic CoV spike protein—from the RsSHC014-CoV sequence that was isolated from Chinese horseshoe bats—in the context of the SARS-CoV mouse-adapted backbone.  The hybrid virus allowed us to evaluate the ability of the novel spike protein to cause disease....

Also this:

this approach must be considered in the context of the US government–mandated pause on gain-of-function (GOF) studies. On the basis of previous models of emergence (Fig. 4a,b), the creation of chimeric viruses such as SHC014-MA15 was not expected to increase pathogenicity.

But it did increase "pathogenicity," a LOT.  "Not expected to" is an effort to rationalize their continuing the research after the "increased pathogenicity" was found.

Finally, the end of the long paper has this:

Acknowledgements

Research in this manuscript was supported by grants from the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Disease [NIAID--the agency headed by Anthony Fauci] and the National Institute of Aging of the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) under awards U19AI109761 (R.S.B.), U19AI107810 (R.S.B.), AI085524 (W.A.M.), F32AI102561 (V.D.M.) and K99AG049092 (V.D.M.)... and by USAID-EPT-PREDICT funding from EcoHealth Alliance (Z.-L.S.)

There's Peter Daszak's "EcoHealth Alliance" that I've been telling you about for two years.  And the syntax of that last line in bold means Daszak funded the research of "Z.-L.S."-- the "bat lady" of the Wuhan Institute.  Those funds were U.S. taxpayer dollars, directed to Daszak's "EcoHealth" entity by Tony Fauci.  Daszak was the "cutout" that enabled Fauci to indignantly claim to congress "I never funded any gain-of-function research!"  He did fund it, just through the cutout.

Finally in the last sentence of "Acknowledgements" we see this:

Experiments with the full-length and chimeric SHC014 recombinant viruses were initiated and performed before the GOF research funding pause and have since been reviewed and approved for continued study by the NIH

This is a damning revelation.  Smoking gun for sure.  Says this research was done before the government-ordered "pause" in U.S. funding for same, BUT that the experiments "have since been reviewed and approved...by NIH" for "continued study."

Wonder who approved the continued study, eh?

Around 2016 the U.S. government decided this type of research was too dangerous, so they banned funding such research by any U.S. government entity.  While the experiments for this 2015 paper may have been done before the ban took effect, according to the paper someone at NIH approved the same type of experiments "for further study".

Question: What "further study" was done, and when?  After the U.S. lifted its ban?   since the research was being done in China my guess was that Fauci figured that if he funded it, no one would ever find out.  And even if they did, his faaabulous expertise would let him avoid being charged.  And he was right about that.

Last, the fact that this paper has been on the government's website all along--and yet no one in the media knew to look for it--or wanted to--is...interesting.

Y'all starting to grasp what's happened yet--and is still happening?  (Hint: November)

Democrats: "Dis prove NOTHING!  Virus NOT modified in lab!  Not possible!  You raaacist!  Lord Fauci GOOD, never do nuffin' wrong!  Lord Fauci no break U.S. law, say no do gain-of-function research!  You RAAACIS'!  You bad man!  You go now!"
