bidenfail regime DECREES car makers must AVERAGE [ X ] miles per gallon by the year [ Y ]--cuz we fightin' Global Warmin'
Imagine how you'd react if the Bidenfail-Harrisjoke regime DECREED that because so many Americans are overweight, all Americans were ordered to lose 35 pounds by a year from now.
People would understandably be furious over the impossibility (for most people) of complying with such an ORDER. But today the regime issued an equally crazy and impossible DECREE: They ordered that the AVERAGE gas mileage of all cars sold in the U.S. would have to be X miles per gallon by 2026.
Leftists cheered wildly: "Our wonderful preznit is SAVING the entire planet from the certain death of Global Warming," they cried. "This is another wonderful, inspiring example of Democrat leadership! All hail our wondrous leaders!"
Wait, you have no idea what that number "X" was. What if the regime ORDERED something clearly impossible to achieve? Because that would mean the only way to achieve the DECREED number would be for carmakers to push electric cars--which is clearly what they're doing in every other way, by stopping drilling on federal lands and offshore. Drive the price of gas to ten bucks a gallon and Americans will be clamoring to buy dem faaaabulous EVs, eh?
"SHUT UP!" yelled the Left in unison. "The most important problem in the whole world is stopping Global Warming--which Science says is caused by Americans driving gasoline-powereed cars! Cuz if we don't stop GW, the ocean will rise and hurt the value of Lord Obama's oceanfront properties on Martha's Vinyard and in Hawaii. We simply canNOT permit that! So shut up!"
How about this: If you're so damn convinced that CO2 is killing the planet, go kill yourselves. Now. Cuz every year you wait, you're emitting more CO2, right? Meanwhile, let's look at that gummint ORDER a bit more:
If you know about cars or the law signed by Obozo you have a pretty good idea of what the average ORDERED fleet-wide mileage is today, right? Anyone? Bueller?
Yeah, you have no idea. Not a clue. Fair enough: It's 28 mpg.
So it might just barely be possible to increase this by, say, 1.5% or so per year.
So how much of an increase would you guess bidenfail's "Department of Transportation" ORDERED?
That all carmakers would be required to achieve an AVERAGE of 49 miles per gallon, for all cars they sold.
For the math-impaired that's 75% higher than the ORDER for the 2022 model year..
And when does this incredibly high number take effect? 2060?
Nope. The ORDER demands that this be achieved just four years from now. Seriously. Here's the headline from the DOT website:
It's crucial that you understand what the regime just did: They ORDERED that by 2026 (for Democrats that's just four years from now) fleets would have to average 75% higher gas mileage than today. (Yeah, I just said that above, but lots of readers don't get it the first time.)It's as unrealistic (i.e. impossible without going to electric vehicles) as ordering every American to lose 35 pounds by a year from now. But the impossible-to-achieve ORDER allows the incompetent Sec of Transportation (the ghastly, moronic Pete Buttigieg) to bleat that the regime will reduce CO2 by trillions of tons per year. (The actual figure was lower but the average American doesn't have a clue on how to check Pete's bullshit numbers, so...)
Porridgebrain himself went on TV to promis that the average American family would save "500 dollars per MONTH" by buying an EV. Wow! Half the population just sat up and voted for the policy. Except an hour later the White House issued a slight "correction:" Actually the projected savings was $500 per YEAR. Ah. So the moronic preznit was only off by a factor of 12. But hey, half the population believe Porridgebrain's number, so "mission accomplished."
A month from now dozens of leftist outlets will be quoting "500 dollars per MONTH" as the true number.
If we had an honest media, reporters would be interviewing automotive engineers who would be telling the public how utterly impossible and unrealistic this was. But of course no Media outlet wants to cross the regime, so no one will do that. So no voter will know how incompetent and nuts the regime is--and all of the cabinet secretaries, including that idiot Pete Buttigeig, the corrupt and clueless Jennifer Granholm (who knows NOTHING about energy), Alexandro Mayorkas ("Homeland Security") and all the rest of the incompetent morons.
Here's the last 'graf of the DOT press release. Note the last sentence:
Today’s final fuel economy standards follow President Biden’s Executive Order 13990, which directed NHTSA to review the 2020 “The Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient (SAFE) Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks” final rule. These CAFE standards also support the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities to cut costs for American families, improve public health, combat climate change, and create and sustain good-paying jobs with a free and fair choice to join a union.
How this ORDER will create any jobs--let alone supposedly "good-paying" ones--isn't explained. But the kicker is that last phrase: the regime is overtly pushing unionization. Of course, comrade.
Interestingly, here's how the Associated Press and CBS "reported" the order:
That "40 mpg" in the headline is NOT a typo, since they repeat the number in the body of the article. Not sure if the AP "reporter" can't read the DOT press release or what, but there's obviously one hell of a difference between 40 and 49. Maybe someone should ask both the AP and the DOT which number is right.
Oh, and ask CBS why, if they supposedly have so damn many so-called "fact checkers," they didn't bother to confirm the seemingly over-the-top AP headline. And turns out the truth was way worse than the AP "reported."
We're being ruled by morons--people who don't know how to change a tire or produce anything useful. Hope you all remember how this all came about.
81 million votes? No way. Not even close.
Did I mention we're being ruled by corrupt, incompetent idiots? We're also being lied to by corrupt idiots.
