NY rulers: "State's first marijuana licenses will go to those with criminal records"

Headline in a local NY rag:

"State's first marijuana licenses will go to those with criminal records"
You may think this is satire, eh?  Unfortunately it's all too real.  This is what you get when crime-loving, drug-loving Dems and RINOs rule.

As the rulers of NY get ready to allow the legal sale of marijuana, Dem state officials--using their well-known brilliance--are sending an unusual message to would-be sellers: only those with criminal records, or their family members, need apply.

The state’s Office of Cannabis Management (estimated 2026 budget: $100 million) released its proposed rules for those wanting to sell.  And much to our surprise the initial batch of the lucrativel licenses to sell will be reserved for those with past marijuana-related convictions and their close family members.

Non-profit organizations that serve individuals with past marijuana convictions will also be eligible.

Wait---it gets better:  Lawmakers have also proposed to use $200 million in tax $ to "help licensees secure retail space and launch their businesses."  Of course the hepful Dem "news" rag--knowing this might irritate s me v ters--phrased this as "set up a $200 million fund," which keeps readers from realizing that the fund will get its cash from taxpayers.

“What New York is doing is actually giving people with criminal justice histories first-mover advantage,” said the executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance.

That would be Kassandra Frederique.

In case you're not part of the "wokie" group, the reason NY's Dem rulers give for giving all the lucrative licenses to criminals is...wait for it..."equity."  Yep, they want people who were "most harmed by marijuana prohibition" to reap the huge profits of legalized sales.

Kassandra Frederique again: “The people that have fought for this change have been the people in New York that have been criminalized by the law, who have had their communities surveilled and punished.”

Yeah Kassie, laws being enforced are a bitch, eh?  So those who broke the law and got punished now get a free fortune.

State officials, she said, “are saying look, you guys get to go first, before everybody else. Because that’s actually what’s going to get us closer to fairness and equity.
