April, 2020: NIH website shows ivermectin reduces covid viral load on cells by a factor of 100,000--in just two days!

"Gosh Mr. Flyover, what do you think those drawings below mean?"

Well Bobby, they're from a research paper published way back on April 3rd of 2020, under the title

FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

That paper was posted on a quirky little-read website run by a website run by a shady outfit called the National Institute of Health.

"Well sure, Mr. Flyover, but what does it mean?"

Well Bobby, the first plot shows that within 2 days after this drug was first administered, viral binding on cells dropped by a factor of 100,000.  And the second plot shows that within the same two days the amount of free virus swimming in the liquid of the test solution dropped by a factor of 10,000.

The third plot shows that the drop in viral DNA in target cells dropped to zero when the concentration of this mysterious drug in cells reached about 7 micro-molar.  That's a pretty low concentration of the drug to wipe out all the virus.

"But I thought the CDC and FDA said Ivermectin didn't work, and was actually dangerous!  How could they say it didn't work if someone had these results on the NIH/government website back in April of 2020, just three months after the first case of the virus was confirmed in the U.S.?  Did a government agency discredit this research?  Did no one ever do a followup study to confirm it in humans?"

Well Bobby, you'd think one of those two things would be true.  But see, the NIH didn't need to actually study the drug because they'd already decided it didn't work.  So there was no need for anyone to do a followup study in humans.

"But how did the NIH know it didn't work if they never tried it on people?"

Well that's...complicated.  Dr. Fauci runs a big branch of the NIH and in his expert opinion only a very expensive drug called Remdesivir works.  So that must mean nothing else could.  And certainly not a drug that only cost 20 cents per pill, as opposed to $3,500 for a vial of Remdesivir.

"Gosh Mr. Flyover, it sounds like Dr. Fauci has a screaming conflict of interest?  Shouldn't he be in jail by now?

Well you might think so, but the Democrats are running things so nothing will happen to any Democrat, no matter how many Americans died needlessly.
