Headlines we expect to see on September 11th
If you're a college-age American you weren't around (or just barely) in 2001, so you don't really grasp the significance of September 11th.
On that day, Muslims hijacked four commercial airliners and flew them into the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, killing more Americans than died in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that prompted the U.S. to enter World War 2.
Since that day, the Americcan Left has decided that we shouldn't bother about Islamic terrorists. After all, Islam is "the religion of peace." All the cool elites keep saying that, so it must be true. So we can leave Afghanistan to 'em, secure in the knowledge that the insane savages won't kill more than a few thousand of those who worked with us. So now we can deal with the really important issues, like...um...global warming. Free college. Free "universal basic income." Things that made this country great.
Thus on 9/11 we can expect to see some headlines no one would have expected 20 years ago:
- NY Times: “Bittersweet day remembering the fallen from 20 years ago but grateful we have a leader with the courage to stop the long war started by Republicans for no reason"
- CNN: "20th anniversary of longest soccer match in history"
- Slate: "Analysts praise the skill with which Biden handled the evacuation airlift."
- MSNBC: "Families of soldiers praise Biden for ending the longest war in our nation's history"
- New Yorker: "20 years later, America is just beginning to realize its limitations"
- Vice: "Why do we still have TSA? Travelers have been assaulted for 20 years."
- The Atlantic: "New evidence suggests 9/11 was an inside job"
- The Nation: "U.S. towns welcome Afghan refugees along with southern-border refugees"
- NBC: "New 100-story Islamic center to be built near site of accident"
