U.K. hospital group working to delete the term "mother" from all maternity wards and services

Ever wake up and wonder if you're still on planet Earth?

In the U.K. a group of hospitals--all National Health/government-run medical care, of course--have instituted a policy in what were once called their maternity departments, to avoid associating any derivative of the word "mother" when treating transgender patients.

Yes, you read that right.  Trannies in the maternity ward.  But in order to be "gender-inclusive" in the maternity ward, they won't be called "mothers."  Instead the goofy ultra-"woke" bureaucrats have instructed staff to substitute “chestfeeding” for “breastfeeding.”  Staff are not to use the term “breast milk” but instead “human milk” or “breast/chestmilk” or “milk from the feeding mother or parent.”

The orders to use gender-neutral language are "to ensure that all groups are represented.”  Ah.

To avoid being accused of gender-insensitivity the maternity services department will be renamed “perinatal services.” Terms such as “woman” and “father” will also be superseded by “woman or person” and “parent,” “co-parent,” or “second biological parent” respectively.

A policy book called “Gender Inclusive Language in Perinatal Services" explains,

"This is known as ‘progressive realisation’ and is congruent with NHS guidance... to overcome, and reverse, the effects of previous exclusion or marginalisation on trans and non-binary people. The result is perinatal services that are available, accessible and *acceptable to the trans and non-binary community,* fulfilling our ...responsibility to address health inequalities in marginalised populations. …

"For us, a gender-additive approach means using gender-neutral language alongside the language of womanhood, in order to ensure that everyone is represented and included. … It is important to note that the term “women” encompasses both cis and trans women. Professionals should be aware that co-parents could have any gender identity, and could also be cis, trans, non-binary, and/or intersex. …

 

In other news for "woke" Democrats, the Biden/Harris nominee to head the Civil Rights division of the humorously-named Just-us Department has announced that transgender "women" (i.e. males) may take an extra six weeks of paid maternity leave, over the six weeks ordered by prior law, due to the extra demands of doing TV interviews with CNN, MSNBC and other networks. 

Also, last week the director of Medicaid Services stated that the Department of Health and Human Services will pay for hormone treatments for trans women making less than $50,000 per year.  The director said Democrat congressional leaders are assuring her that a bill is in the works to make hormone treatments free for trans students as long as they were at least ten years old.  The bill would also make it a federal crime for anyone to attempt to block any person from obtaining such crucial, gender-confirming therapy.
