Interview of 27-year-old president of San Fran school board who pushed to change school names
Your disastrous co-preznits are lighting so many fires and doing so much damage to our beleagured nation that it's hard to keep up. So by comparison, the following story may seem trivial. I don't think it is. I think this is the type of problem that will persist for the rest of our lives.
The San Francisco Board of Education recently voted to rename of 44 public schools, including ones named after George Washington, Abraham Lincoln (who the board's committee on renaming said didn’t “demonstrate that black lives mattered to him”), and Paul Revere.
The president of that school board, and a key figure pushing to rename the schools, is a 27-year-old leftist named Gabriela Lopez--praised in a teen magazine as the youngest elected official in San Francisco. Because Lopez is clearly a rising star in the Left's pantheon person, New Yorker magazine sent writer Isaac Chotiner out to interview her.
In the introduction to that interview, Chotiner notes that the committee appointed to decide which schools should be renamed targeted Paul Revere Elementary “because of his role in the Penobscot Expedition of 1779, an assault on a British fort that the committee claimed, incorrectly, was intended to colonize the Penobscot people.”
Chotiner says he was curious as to whether the committe had asked historians whether the charges were true. And of course the committee never asked historians to give them the facts. Amazingly, for a writer for New Yorker, Chotiner gently asks the 27-year-old powerhouse if perhaps historians should have been involved to check the claims by the leftist committee members. Her reply?
I see what you’re saying. So, for me, I guess it’s just the criteria was created to show if there were ties to these specific themes, right? White supremacy, racism, colonization, ties to slavery, the killing of indigenous people, or any symbols that embodied that. And the committee shared that these are the names that have these ties. And so, for me, at this moment, I have the understanding we have to do the teaching, but also I do agree that we shouldn’t have these ties, and this is a way of showing it."
Note that line from the 27-year-old school board president: "Lincoln is not someone that I typically tend to admire or see as a hero, because of these specific instances where he has contributed to the pain of the decimation of people..."
And this moron is the president of the Board of Education NOT of Goat Muzzle, New York, but San Francisco.
