Biden says "America WAS an idea, [and] we've never lived up to it." Really, he said that.

In the last presidential debate Joe Biden said

"America WAS an idea. We've never lived up to it but we've never walked away from it before."

Maybe it's just me, but I think America continues to be an idea and ideal, great on both counts, and I think most of us are constantly working to live up to the vision of the founding fathers.

The other part of Biden's statement that galls me is his implication that "we" are 'walking away' from the founders' vision today.  I think he's utterly wrong on that too.  But then I live in a city that isn't run by socialist anarchists and thugs, so things are pretty great.

I think Joe made his comment because by selling his office for foreign bribes--admittedly paid directly to his coke-addicted son Hunter as the cutout--JOE hasn't lived up to the ideals of America.  In fact he's failed those ideals in every way possible, for most of his 47 years in congress and the vice-presidency.

What Democrats are really saying when they say America hasn’t lived up to it’s ideals is that they aren’t living up to the ideals of America, so they can't believe anyone else can be either, because they can't accept that conservatives have better ideas and policies.

The truth is, if you feel America hasn't lived up to the ideals of the Founders, it’s your guilt, not someone else's.  So don’t blame the country for your failures, Joe.
