Medicare will be bankrupt in 7 years, yet all the Dem candidates want to expand it to EVERYONE
If you're over 20 or so you may have read some scary rumor that "Medicare is going broke."
"Nah, bruh, that's jus' a fake right-wing scare story, designed to make ya vote Republican! Ain't real."
Except it IS real: Latest estimates are that Medicare will run out of money in a mere seven years.
If you're way under the age to start Medicare, that's still a big problem, unless you're willing and able to pay for your parents' medical costs. So what can be done to fix this?
One good idea is to drastically reduce the number of people who get Medicaid, by tightening eligibility requirements.
If you're under 30 or so you may not know that this isn't the same thing as Medicare. Medicaid is the Democrats' effort to give free medical care to poor people--including those who refuse to get jobs and instead sit around smokin' weed and drinking all day. And in a classic Democrat scam, rather than budget, say $100 billion per year for Medicaid, all money for Medicaid is paid from...wait for it...Medicare funds. Medicare, of course, gets its funding from a small amount taken from everyone's paycheck each month.
"Wait," I hear you saying, "There are so many seniors that Medicare cost must be, gee, 100 times larger than Medicaid, so tightening eligibility for Medicaid wouldn't reduce total cost much, right?
Let's take a look at the numbers: In 2017 Medicare spent $706 billion. In the same year Medicaid spent $582 billion.
According to a report by Forbes, in 2016 taxpayers paid $18.5 Billion for health care for illegal immigrants--despite the fact that federal law bars Medicaid for illegals. But of course laws mean nothing to Democrats--especially in California, where the legislature is totally controlled by Dems, and a Dem governor never vetoes any bill they pass.
The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) found that the percentage of new immigrants on Medicaid grew from six percent in 2007 to 17 percent in 2017 – an increase of 11 percentage points.
So by one stroke the government could free up $18.5 billion just by prosecuting the hell out of California for violating federal law by giving Medicaid to illegals. Then cut off Medicaid to anyone who's physically able to work. I'd be stunned if that didn't save another $100 billion or so.
But the real point of this post isn't how to keep Medicare solvent for another decade or so past the current drop-dead date, but to get you to think about how abysmally dumb the Democrats' "Medicare for all" idea is. These people either don't understand the future, or else refuse to act on certain outcomes. They never expected "medical care for the poor" would explode into over half a TRILLION bucks every year, nor that pols in states like the Peoples' Republic of California would soon be spending $18 billion of Medicaid funds each year on illegal aliens--especially when they explicitly barred that in the original law!
What makes any rational person honestly believe that the Dems would run "Medicare for all" any better than they have Medicare and Medicaid? And yet not a single member of the Lying Mainstream Media has asked Bernie or Warren or Kamala or Biden or Booker or Buttigeig how they can assure voters that their "Medicare for all" schemes will work better than the coming disaster for current Medicare.
