Two examples of the Mainstream Media printing stories that helped the terrorists and hurt the U.S.
As a few of you may have deduced by now, I have a dim view of the Lying Mainstream Media.
To put that more accurately: I think the LMM is one of the most anti-American forces on Earth, and for my college-age readers I'd like to give you an example of their treasonous, anti-American behavior from when y'all were about 5 years old.
Most people know that cell phones only have a max range of around 3 miles. So around 2005 the jihadis and assorted rag-heads in, say, Afghanistan and Iraq were confident that anything discussed over a cell phone in their home countries couldn't be intercepted by the U.S.
That turned out to be wrong: We'd found a way to intercept their cell-phone conversations. It was a hugely valuable tool--but only if they didn't know we could do it.
Unfortunately an anti-American in the intel community leaked this story to a reporter, who asked the Defense Department to comment. This request was bounced to the White House. President Bush invited the reporter to the White House and asked him not to print the story since it would cause the terrorists to stop discussing their plans via cell phone, and this invaluable source of information would be lost.
The reporter's newpaper ignored the president's request and printed the story. And of course as soon as the story appeared, the terrorists stopped discussing plans via cell phone.
A couple of years later, much the same thing happened--this time with financing: Terrorists were raising money in the U.S. and other countries, and using encrypted electronic wire transfers to send it to their neighborhood bank. Our intel community monitored these transfers, allowing us to identify who the sources were in the U.S.
Once again, a treasonous mole in the intel community leaked the story to the New York Times. Again the president asked the Times not to print the story, but the editors of the Times hated G.W. Bush, hated the U.S. military, hated that we'd invaded Iraq, so were eager to do as much damage as they could. They published the story, and that tool was lost.
There are literally hundreds of similar stories, where Mainstream Media outlets betrayed America to advance their own agendas.
And if you think they've stopped doing that, please don't have kids.
