Lyft driver in Cali--an illegal-alien from Africa--rapes passed-out passenger; media making excuses

In San Mateo, California, a drunk 26-year-old female arranged a ride with Lyft.  She passed out in the back seat.  Whereupon the driver, 46-year-old Tonye Kolokolo, took her to his home and had sex with her, allegedly against her will.

One hardly knows where to begin with this story.  But commenters on the 400-odd Bay Area news outlets that ran the story (as they all did) took a shot:
  • "Can't be true, cuz CNN/fakenews says the only bad people are straight white males."
  • "How dare they separate this poor man from his family!"
  • "Why all the fuss?  After all, he only broke one law..."
  • "Men are pigs!"  [Really?  All men?  Bullshit.]
  •  His public defender: "He didn't know this was against the law here.  We can't expect recent immigrants to know every little detail of our laws.  And if you don't know the law, no crime.."
  • "Didn't the Democrat legislature in California pass a law a year ago saying you couldn't arrest illegal aliens there?"
  • "How do you know he's here illegally?"
  • "Cuz if he was here legally that would have been mentioned in the first sentence of each of the 442 stories on this awful crime."
  • "I didn't find this article on CNN and MSNBC.  How...odd.  Oh wait: Doesn't fit their agenda."
  • "The guy's attorneys will blame the white bartender for over-serving the female--and they'll sue the bar owner."
  • "Lyft spokesman sez 'We are not responsible for this in any way.  Everyone who drives in our service is an independent contractor, and we're not responsible in any way.  Totally not."
  • "This was all Trump's fault!  This poor immigrant was just reacting to Trump's raaacism!"
  • "It's wrong to impose our cultural values on immigrants!  All cultures are equally valid!"
  • "To really grasp how warped Democrat pols are, consider this:  The California legislature changed state law so that knowingly, intentionally infects someone with HIV is no longer a felony, just a misdemeanor.  You can't make this stuff up!"
