NBC: "U.S. added to list of most dangerous countries for journalists for first time!" "63 killed" Wait...
You may be surprised to learn that yesterday the leftist group Reporters Without Borders issued a report claiming the
United States was "one of the most dangerous countries for journalists"!
That's right, citizen. In its annual report the group claims the U.S. is right up there with countries like Mexico, Syria and Afghanistan. And for the first time evah! So naturally this scary, awful news was breathlessly and uncritically echoed by NBC yesterday.
Of course I know you're all very busy so not one percent of you will bother to click on the above link, which is what enables my liberal friends to keep calling these stories "fake news." Of course, dahling. If you didn't see it, it never happened. So just for you, snowflake, here's the actual NBC "news" headline:
Wait...you don't suppose that "63 killed" was for the whole world, do ya?
Surely the article will tell you, right? Cuz no honest organization would want to leave the false impression of 63 killed in the U.S. But nope, not a single word in the whole article. Gosh, that's...odd.
Okay, so...how many "professional journalists" were killed in the U.S. in 2018?
Umm...six.
Four of those were killed by a lunatic in Maryland who'd been angry at the local Capital Gazette for 7 years because the paper published an article naming him.
The other two were killed by a falling tree while covering extreme weather in North Carolina.
Wait...how could any honest organization make the jump from the above facts to claiming the U.S. was one of the most dangerous countries for journalists?
Simple: They're playing to the Democrat base--people who're eager to blame Trump for everything. Since Trump has repeatedly called the mainstream media on their pro-Dem bias, it must follow (to Dems) that the death of any U.S. journalist has to be his fault.
After the Capital Gazette shooting virtually the entire U.S. media initially blamed Trump's rhetoric toward the media. When the facts emerged a day later, the media didn't retract a word, nor apologize.
"We won’t forget being called an enemy of the people," the Capital Gazette editorial staff wrote. "We won’t forget, because exposing evil, shining light on wrongs and fighting injustice is what we do."
"Exposing evil," eh? "Fighting injustice," eh? Noble, worthy goals, certainly, but what did either of those have to do with the nut who killed four of your reporters? Zip. Nada. But damn! It sounds so good to blame those six deaths on evil and injustice, eh? Makes ya feel so...righteous!
And makes such a GREAT headline, eh? Especially when NBC implies the 63 dead were here, and the article never clears up the ambiguity.
Fake news? Perish the thought!

Geez, who would have guessed that 63 "professional journalists" were killed in the US. in a single year! That's clearly the implication from NBC's headline and sub-head. How is it that none of us heard about all those ghastly murders?U.S. added to list of most dangerous countries for journalists for first time
At least 63 professional journalists were killed doing their jobs in 2018, a 15 percent increase over last year, Reporters Without Borders said.
