"Would yew like lotsa free stuff, po' exploited young American?"

 

Communism/socialism is SO attractive, eh?  Marx laid out the rationale beautifully:  "Bad Pipo--exploiters, greedy owners, fat-cat capitalists, beez oppressin' all duh po' workin pipo!"  

It made perfect sense, because almost every working person has felt put upon at one time or another by the boss or owner, eh?  Of course.  It's irritating as hell to have to do X or risk being fired, eh?  Of course in a free market you can always quit and get another job where your faaabulous skill-set is valued, right?

But at heart, communism/socialism is an appeal to peoples' desire for "free shit:"  You don't have to be lazy, stupid or corrupt to wanna be paid LOTS of money for nothing.  It's like being king, or a child of rich parents.  I get it.  We all get it.

Problem is, if lotsa pipo demand to get free shit without working, who's gonna produce all that free stuff being demanded by the commies, eh?  

Think about that for a minute.   

Democrats/socialists: "Why I care 'bout dat?  Dat not my problem!  Gummint will order some pipo to produce whatevah I want!"

Startin' to see the flaw in Marx's faaaaabulous theory yet?

If you're a typical U.S. college student, you don't.  You would have spotted the flaw, but your professors conned you into NOT spotting it--because they were either socialists or communists. 

Democrat parents: "NOOooo!  Dat not possible!  My kid goes to a $50,000-a-year Ivy League skool!  How could an Ivy League skool hire communist professors?  It don't make no sense!"

Well it might not to stupid Democrat parents, but it's totally deliberate.  You don't believe it but most elite universities are totally run by communists or socialists.  They just don't boast about it. 

SO...Marx and Engels laid out a seductive story: "Yew iz all bein' exploited by duh greedy owners!  Eeeebil capitalists!"  And with that setup, at least 40% of people totally agree.

And the result is...polls show 60% of students at coastal universities say they prefer socialism (communism by another name) over capitalism (free markets).
