Democrat socialist senator Mark Kelly says AI companies should have a special tax

Democrat senator Mark Kelly (Arizona) says he’s introducing a bill ordering AI companies to pay unspecified billions to a "government-managed fund" to "support workers displaced by AI."

Washington Post, 1911--Today Democrat socialist senator Foghorn Kelly noted that the sale of the awful horseless new "motor-cars" threatens to displace thousands of workers who build carriages, make harnesses and buggy whips.  
   Since senator Kelly is a man of the people, always looking out for the working man, he said he's introducing a bill that will require makers of these newfangled "motor-cars" to pay a portion of their revenue to a government-run fund that will "support workers displaced by the motor-car." 
   When asked to define "a portion of their revenue" the senator was coy:  "Not too much, of course.  Probably just five percent.  But it might possibly increase a bit if the government commission running the program finds that more workers have been displaced than first thought."
   "For example, if Americans buy fewer horses, that would reduce the sale of oats, so some farmers would surely be 'adversely impacted.'  And of course if fewer horses are sold, that would obviously impact people who breed and sell horses."
   "In fact, no one can possibly know all the potential impacts of unleashing this scary new technology on ouah great horse-loving nation!  So that's why the bill doesn't limit the tax...er, 'worker-impact fund' rate."
   When asked how an unlimited tax could possibly be constitutional, Kelly replied "Don't be dense, deplorable.  We in congress are reeeally smaht, and know what's best, so we'd nevah set the tax rate too high.  
  "For example, the senate is now considering a tiny one-percent federal tax on all income, but a few right-wing extremists are screaming that if such a bill becomes law, the tax rate could eventually double, or even soar to five or even ten percent!
   "What nonsense!  It's just a right-wing scare story to try to keep this excellent bill from passing!  Next thing you know they'll be screaming that the tax rate could be even more absurd, like 30% of all income!  It's nonsense--we're far smahtah den dat!"

For young Americans--and older ones who don't know history (spoiler: not one American in 10,000 knows fuck-all about history), the bill ordering Americans to pay a federal tax on most income became law in 1913.  It ordered earners to pay just one percent, and only on incomes above what today would be the equivalent of $101,000 per year.  So low earners didn't revolt, eh?
   By 1944 the top tax rate on high earners had jumped to 94%, and stayed above 90% from 1944 through 1963, thus following the Iron Law of Taxes which says once you allow corruptocrats to pass any tax, they keep raising the rate.

For reference, when the tax law was passed, the maximum tax rate on the highest incomes was 7 percent, and only applied to incomes over the equivalent of $15 million today.  But the tax rate rose to 94%, and the income when that rate kicked in kept dropping.  Hmmm...

Most of you aren't stupid, just uninformed.  Some of us thought the internet might help that...but it hasn't.  And in ten years or less, Democrats will pass a law requiring a government license to post any fact or political opinion on the Net, so that once-promising avenue for information will go dark.
