Under construction: An experiment with music
This is an experiment. To get the full effect you'll need headphones.
For decades I've loved a certain kind of music--not "popular songs" but intricate compositions that I feel often convey deep meanings--or perhaps just put many listeners in a state of mind that leads to contemplating deeper things. Some of the songs below have (literally) tens of thousands of comments on YouTube saying essentially the same thing, so it's not just me.
So the experiment is, pour yourself a drink, don your headphones and click the ones that are blue, in order. If any of these made your mind wander, feel free to leave a comment.
Deja Vu -- Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ("We have all been here before" ?)
Cold Blue Steel --Joni Mitchell (lyrics, last 3 chords on 12-string)
Delta -- CSNY (harmonies; "someone keeps thinking...in my sleep")
Before You Go --Lyle Mays
August -- Lyle Mays
Little Sunflower -- Brandon Fields
The Look -- Chris Botti
Estate -- Chris Botti
Nightfall -- Rick Braun (fabulous sax)
Butter -- Boney James (another fabulous sax, and a great bass line)
Any Time of Day -- Fourplay (delightful innuendo)
Still the One -- Fourplay
The Place Between Us -- Chris Botti (the space can be infinite)
San Lorenzo -- Pat Metheney Group
Where I'm Calling From -- Chris Botti (haunting; calling from far, far away)
Ever Since We Met -- Chris Botti
To Love Again -- Chris Botti
Theme from Hotel Paradiso -- Metheney
