New Jersey to scrap basic proficiency tests for teachers
New Jersey's powerful teachers' union has pressured the state legislature to ram thru a LAW that eliminates the requirement that teachers pass ANY kind of proficiency test in English or maff.
The argument went like dis: "We needs mo' teachers, an' one of duh t'ings that keeps us frum gettin' mo' teachers is t'be a teecher y'gotta pass dis dumb test on English and maff! An' not enuf of duh right pipo wuz passin'! BUT becuz we iz ejucation majors wif dekades of exsperience, we found a solution!
"Eliminate duh test!"
And the Democrat governor, Phil Murphy--acutely aware that he can't win wif'out duh endorsement of duh powerful teechers' union--signed the new LAW reeally fast!
Say, if eliminatin' duh basic proficiency test in English an' maff don' give ya enuf teachers, you could try hiring gender-studies majors wif no idea about either English OR maff. You'll have lotsa candidates then, eh?
It's the Democrat fix: too few applicants? Lower the requirements.
