Medical mystery in the UK

Syphilis is a ghastly disease, but thanks to antibiotics, by the mid-20th century it had largely been eradicated in the Western world.

But for some unexplained reason the disease has very recently exploded (or in the soothing language of wokiez, "experienced a resurgence).

In the UK in 2022, cases of syphilis reached the highest level since 1948.

Medical experts:  "We have no idea why this is happening!"

Sociologists: "We're totally mystified!"

Leftists: "Surely being caused by Global Warming.  Wait...'climate change.'"

Politicians: "We need mo' money to figure out the cause!  But we're certain it is NOT due to massive numbers of immigrants!"
