Associated Press "style guide" tells Media how to "report" transgender stories--while denying...

In his classic dark novel of totalitarian rule, “1984,” George Orwell coined a new word and concept: "doublethink."  That was the ability of good citizens (Party members) to embrace two contradictory ideas without being troubled by the contradiction.

Indeed, the concept required good citizens--good Party members--to refuse even to recognize that two ideas or Party policies were contradictory.  The best Party members were able to do this without the slightest internal reservation or stress.

If you haven't read the book, you can't really internalize the utter evil of what I just described.  Orwell showed how doublethink allowed citizens to believe "Freedom is slavery" and "War is peace."  It sounds impossibly contradictory, but Orwell explained how good Party members were able to believe those things.

Perhaps an example will help:  The entire Lying Mainstream Media obeys the rules stated in a thing called the "Associated Press stylebook."  Last June the AP released the "2022-2024" edition, which contained new guidelines on how reporters were to write about "transgenderism."  The rules for reporting tranny stories were quite detailed--ostensibly in the name of "good journalism," of course--while at the same time ordering media outlets not to allow any debate on the tranny ideology.

To repeat: journalists could write stories about transgender issues, but those stories were not allowed to admit that an ideology called "transgenderism" exists.

If you've got an IQ over 80 you've noticed that every time a Mainstream Media outlet writes a story on trannies, the story uses the fake pronouns DEMANDED by the tranny mafia.  Every outlet, every story.  Confusing.  If you think "reporting" should be clear instead of confusing, you may have wondered why they all write tranny stories like that.

The answer is that the AP style guide orders 'em to use a person’s “preferred pronouns."  And being good leftists, they all obey.  Every one of 'em.  Cuz the dumb bastards are all determined to signal their virtue, so none are willing to buck the Rules.

Doublethink, comrade:  Contradiction?  Not at all, comrade, because the Party has ruled that no contradictions exists.  All that was needed was to declare a simple rule: "Trans women ARE women."  See?

Oh wait...at another location in the guide, the AP demands that journalists NOT use the phrase “preferred pronouns,” instead suggesting phrases like “the pronouns they use," or "whose pronouns are," or "who uses the pronouns...

If that strikes you as a meaningless difference, you're obviously not woke.  See, "preferred pronouns" implies a choice.  But the tranny mafia insists that there IS no choice:  they demand that we all recognize that the tranny really IS the opposite sex.  So the phrase "whose pronouns *are* ___" conceals the notion of choice and implies it's a reality.

George Orwell would understand instantly.

If you ever wondered how the Media began using the bizarre term "sex assigned at birth," it's a direct lift from the tranny mafia: See, they can't tolerate the terms "born male" or "born female," because that admits a biological fact.  Hence the use of the Orwellian "sex assigned at birth."

In the same vein, the AP demands that creating a fake vagina in a male, or cutting the breasts off girls, or using ghastly surgery to give a female a penis, NOT be called "mutiliation" but be euphemized as “gender-affirming health care.”

"Gender-affirming health care," eh?

But despite all these rules demanding that all media outlets bow to the tranny mafia, the AP bars the Media from writing stories debating the ideas behind this ideology, or the ideology itself.  If you think I made that up, here's the AP style guide: “Do not use the term transgenderism, which frames transgender identity as an ideology.”  Yet the entire document is loaded with this ideology.

AP: “Avoid references to a transgender person being born a boy or girl, and phrases like birth gender.  'Sex assigned at birth' is the accurate terminology.”

The crux of transgender ideology is getting people to believe that changing a person’s body to match a gender identity opposite his or her biological sex is “affirming,” rather than destructive.  Until recently this claim would have been rejected out of hand, but the AP guidelines don't allow any dissent.

The AP guide instructs Media outlets to “avoid the word 'mutilation,' a politicized and subjective term often used to mischaracterize surgery.”  But when you cut a girl's non-cancerous breasts off, how is that not mutilation?

The AP guide also demands that reporters not use the term “groomer,” which normies use to describe efforts by gays and trannies to make their sexual preferences attractive to young children.  So it's a very efficient, accurate term.  But the AP demands that it not be used.  Hmmm...

When it comes to sports, the AP style guide tells journalists to "avoid phrasing that misgenders people or implies doubt, such as 'former men’s swimmer' or 'currently competes as a woman.' ”  See, that implies that the now-claimed-woman was formerly a male--which contradicts the tranny demand that "I was never male but have always been female."

Are you beginning to see how seamlessly this all works?  The Media controls how "polite" Americans must use language.  And the AP controls how the Media writes the stories that *tell* Americans what language to use.

Contradictions?  Nah.  All you need to do is apply the principles of doublethink, as all good Leftists are taught.

Orwell knew.
