Thoughts after the midterms
For decades, elections have been driven by how the economy is doing, and by threats from overseas. So with a tanking economy and massive invasion of fighting-age males across our southern border, based on historical results the Repubs should have won 60 House seats and half a dozen in the senate.
But over half of Americans lack the education or information needed to connect "cause" with "effect." And candidly, about a quarter simply aren't smart enough. An honest media could remedy the first two problems, but our media is totally in the tank for Dems.
Thus the Media have not only ignored the invasion, they've worked hard to portray the invaders as "poor, oppressed *refugees*." So biden and the Dems letting an unlimited number enter the U.S.--and stay--is portrayed as compassion, thus praised. The Mainstream Media totally refuses to criticize the open-border policy, or to note any of its disastrous effects on the country.
Economy: It's definitely tanking, but as long as the official figures show 3.5% unemployment and the Media avoid doing stories on laid-off middle-class males who can't find a job other than flipping burgers, low-info voters think the economy is fine.
(A much more relevant figure is NOT unemployment, but a thing called "labor force participation," which is the percentage of Americans of working age who have jobs. It's in the low 60's. A reasonable figure would be high-80s. This shows that lots of Americans don't *want* to work--at least not in a job they're qualified for.)
Next: Imagine if a Republican had sold off 40% of the oil in our Strategic Petroleum Reserve just to keep the price of gasoline down before the election. The Media would have been blasting that story every day. But when biden did it--and is still doing it--the general-interest Media avoided the story. (It was a big deal in the energy-business media, but folks not in that business never saw any of those stories.)
To make things worse, indicators are that the economy will get worse before it recovers. But Dem/Wall Street shill outlets like CNBC, MarketWatch and dozens of others totally ignore those indicators, so low-info voters don't have a clue.
But even if the economy clearly craters, Dems won't be blamed, thanks to their allies in the Mainstream Media. Even better for the Dems, a bad economy won't hurt them even if most voters wake up and blame Dem policies for it, because a sick economy makes voters more dependent on Dem "freebies."
Traditionally a bad economy made life hard for voters, and they'd vote the Dems out. But thanks to socialist Dem polices, many young Americans don't lose income when they're laid off.
Most adults realize that wanting the government to take care of you is wanting childhood. Most of us realize that adults wanting to be dependent on others is creepy. Most adults realize that if everyone depended on others to live, the society collapses. So anyone who, after reaching age 18 or 20, insists on being supported by others, is a drain on society.
We're happy to support our aged parents and grandparents, and people who aren't able to support themselves because of genuine illness or injury. But when able people simply refuse to work? Hell no. And yet...here we are, thanks to the Dems.
Far too many young Americans have been conditioned--by the MSM--to see nothing odd or damaging about being supported by either parents or taxpayers. It's certainly easier than getting a job, eh? And that's a huge, costly problem.
Also: Hollywood and Leftist-run social media have convinced young Americans that Republicans and conservatives are evil. So it's no surprise that most 18-30-year-olds vote Dem.
Now let's look at inflation. "Wait, the president just said that's no longer a problem! And the Media agrees! So we're gonna put our fingers in our ears and make noise until you shut up!"
Now, if you live in the northeast (which you likely don't) there's a good chance you heat with "heating oil"--which, as many people don't know, is #2 diesel. Today it costs 68% more than a year ago. The price rose a stunning 19.8% in the last month alone.
Low-info voter: "I don't heat with oil, so why should I care about that?" Well, if 20 million people heat with it, and will have to pay 68% more for it this season, that will reduce their ability to buy other things, eh? What do you think that will do to the economy?
Low-info voter: "Our brilliant, totally competent president said the economy is BOOMING, and the Media agrees! So if it costs some people a little bit more to heat their homes this year that won't have much effect."
So do you think the higher cost of diesel for trucks will have any effect on the price of, say, food? Gasoline?
Low-info voter: "How stupid! Gasoline isn't diesel! So how can higher diesel costs raise the price of gasoline, dummy?"
How do you think EVERY gallon of gasoline is delivered from refineries to wholesalers, and from wholesalers to your local station?
Low-info voter: "Uh...um...uh...okay, but that can't result in much of an increase. So you're just being a killjoy!"
Okay, now it's obvious why you and your friends weren't at all upset when you learned inflation had all prices up 8% in the past year: You didn't understand (and still don't) that this has the same effect as reducing your income by the same percentage.
Low-info voter: "Um...what?"
