Parents take their 4- and 5-year-old in for flu shot, kids accidently given adult doses of covid vax. "No problem!"
Two weeks ago in Evansville, Indiana, Joshua and Alexandra Price and their two children went to the local Walgreens to get flu shots.
Instead all four were mistakenly injected with adult doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, and are now dealing with some "adverse symptoms."
After they got back home the store called saying the pharmacy had made a mistake, and that all four had been injected with adult doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
"Our 5-year-old started feeling sick before we even got home from Walgreens," his mother said. He was lethargic and already feverish by the time they got home.
CNN contacted Dr. Payed Reassurer, dean of the School of Medical Stuff at a prestigious medical school, who said "They'll probably be OK. The kids just got a shot with three times the dose that's been tested on kids, but because the vaccine is perfectly safe, they'll probably be fine in a week or two."
"The most important thing to keep in mind is that the vaccine is perfectly safe," said Reassurer. "Thousands of 4- and 5-year-olds have been vaccinated, and not one has ever died--at least not after they were considered fully vaccinated. And there hasn't been a single reported case of long-term adverse effects--say, five years down the road. Not one! That shows you it's really safe!"
He added that the parents' extra dose of the vaccine "is just like getting a booster shot, which every good American should take. Because it's very safe. And it prevents you from getting the virus, which we know is VERY deadly! So this turns out to be a very smart move on their part."
A Walgreens' spokesperson released a statement saying that the company couldn't comment on the reported incident due to federal privacy laws about releasing personal medical information. "We could only do that if they were our employees," he said.
The statement said "Walgreens takes these matters very seriously. Our multi-step vaccination verification procedure includes several safety checks to prevent this from happening. Fortunately the president has assured Americans that this vaccine is so amazingly safe that even in the extremely unlikely event of a mistake, there's no risk at all."
When asked about the reported incident, the nation's top expert on health, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said "The vaccine is extremely safe. When I took it, all I noticed was my right arm was sore for a day or two. Or was it my left arm? I'm not sure. Is there a video I can look at to refresh my memory?"
