"You must drink the Koolaid! And you must make your kids drink it too!"
If you're under 50 you have no idea who this is, or what the caption means, or how this person and the caption are relevant to our current...um..."situation" vis-a-vis the China virus and the vaccines.
If I told you an authority figure could dupe gullible Americans so completely that they'd commit suicide (by drinking Koolaid laced with cyanide), you might be surprised. After all, roughly 40% of Americans are ridiculouslygullible. But if I told you that the authority could scare gullible followers SO much that the adults forced 300 of their children to drink the Koolaid too, most of you would probably find that extremely hard to believe.
After all, killing yourself is one thing, but forcing your kids to drink poison is WAY different. Simply couldn't happen, right? But it did.
The guy in the pic is Jim Jones--a fake preacher in San Fran and Oakland, California in the 1970's. Jones ran one of the earliest cults, pushing socialism, and had a following of thousands, mostly blacks. He called it "The Peoples' Temple," and his scam was "If you believe in the good of our community, give everything you have to the community." Meaning him.
His followers were totally devoted, so as you could guess, Democrat politicians (including the ghastly crook Willie Brown--who launched Kamala Harris's political career) sucked up to Jones to get the votes his followers could deliver.
But Jones was SO skanky that eventually even the notoriously skanky Democrat party finally had enough of him. With authorities closing in on him, he left the Bay area and set up a compound in Guyana called Jonestown. Eventually a thousand of his followers joined him there. It was supposedly a socialist "paradise." And for Jones, it was.
Jones ruthlessly suppressed any criticism or dissent. (Sound familiar?) Like communists and Nazi's, he encouraged followers to report any grumbling by other neighbors. To keep unhappy followers from simply walking out, he told them the jungle was infested with tigers and poisonous snakes, and that they'd never make it to the nearest town. They believed him.
In November of 1978, as authorities were closing in on Jones in Guyana, he ordered his followers to kill themselves--and their children--by drinking poison. Virtually all the adults did, and 900 members of the cult died--including 300 of their children.
Americans couldn't believe it. 600 adults committing suicide was crazy enough, but it was almost incomprehensible that they'd kill 300 of their own children.
The story dominated the news for the next month, and launched a meme that persisted for 25 years or so: The phrase "You drank the Koolaid" was used to describe someone so deluded, so insanely gullible, that they'd willingly kill themselves when ordered to do so.
Now, the tie-in to today: For the past 20 months Democrat politicians have using scare tactics to make Americans do things (or not do things) no one would have imagined they'd do (or not do). Did you ever in your wildest dreams imagine Americans would be forced to stay in their homes, that their businesses would be shut down under pain of huge fines or jail time? Did you ever think governors would ban you from going to church? Ban you from attending a parent's or spouse's funeral?
Did you ever imagine cops would give people tickets--with huge fines--for paddling alone on a surfboard hundreds of yards from the nearest other person? Did you think the Dem governors would block kids from in-person school for an entire year--while continuing to pay teachers full salary?
Did you ever imagine social media would systematically delete every post critical of the vaccine, or questioning the official party line about HCQ and Ivermectin?
Finally, did you think Democrat governors would FORCE all school kids 12 and over to take an experimental mRNA vaccine in order to allowed back in the classroom? Did you think all major companies would FORCE all their employees to take the jab in order to keep their job?
No, none of you ever imagined any of this--just as no one would have believed 900 people would commit suicide on the order of a drugged-out fake preacher. And yet all these things have happened. And the biden*harris*fail regime is gearing up to force everyone to take the jab. (Well, except for the 1.3 MILLION illegal aliens they've let waltz in.)
So...do ya think this ghastly, rapacious, incompetent gruberment has hit bottom in its outrageous demands yet?
