Two thugs murder a man to steal a used dirtbike, finally go to trial FOUR YEARS LATER
In January of 2017 a 44-year-old white Florida man listed his dirt bike for sale on Craigslist.
Two black males--22-year-old Dontae Johnson and Ramontrae Williams--responded to the ad, and promised to pay more than the asking price if the owner would deliver it to them. The owner agreed.
When the owner and his 15-year-old son arrived at the prearranged location, the defendants asked to test drive the bike. The victim told them he would need the cash before the test drive took place. When the cash was handed over, it was far less than the agreed-upon price of $1,200, and the owner handed the money back.
According to the state attorney, Johnson then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim and his son. The victim told his son to run to the truck, and did the same, attempting to flee.
It was too late: Johnson shot the victim multiple times. His son saw him fall to the ground as he was trying to climb into the driver's seat.
The victim's son took the stand to testify during the trial, wiping away tears as he remembered frantically trying to save his father's life.
Last week, over FOUR YEARS after the murder, the killer finally went to trial. He was convicted, and "will be sentenced at some future date."
The killer's partner in the murder, Williams, pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He testified at the trial.
Now, what can we learn from this utterly senseless murder? Johnson murdered a man--and destroyed a family--to steal a used dirt-bike. Of course that's not the lesson here. Can anyone figure it out? Bueller?
