Carjackings in DC: first 4 months of last year? 60. Same period this year? 207. Mayor: "Crime is down."
Last year between January and April, the Dem-ruled cesspool city of Washington DC saw 60 carjackings.
During the same months of this year there have been 207 carjackings--an average of over 50 per month.
An spokesperson for Dem mayor Muriel Bowser told reporters "This continues the encouraging downward trend in crime under the strong leadership of Mayor Bowser."
When one reporter--apparently new to DC--pointed out that 207 carjackings in the first 4 months of this year was actually an INcrease of almost 250 percent over last year, the spokesperson glared at the reporter and said "Apparently you didn't understand. Let me read it to you again: 'This continues the encouraging downward trend in crime, under the strong leadership of Mayor Bowser.' Any more questions?"
There weren't any more questions.
When the same reporter contacted the DC Metro Police to confirm the numbers of carjackings, a spokesperson appeared puzzled. "We don't keep any statistics on carjackings," they said. "We used to, but we stopped late last year. Yeah, might have been around November. I don't know who told us to stop. You might try the DMV. If not, try the FBI," said the spokesperson. "I hear they're really good about keeping records and stuff."
