biden*harris regime junks Trump proposal that would have put time limits on student visas
The harris*biden regime has junked a reform to student visas sought by former President Trump that would have tightened federal oversight to foreigners who enter the U.S. on student visas.
The actual sabotage was done by biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS officials admitted that they withdrew the Trump proposal because of pressure from "higher education officials," whose universities get huge revenue from charging foreign students, on average, nearly $27,000 a year.
Before Trump, foreigners who entered on a student visa could stay in the U.S. forever, as long as they kept taking classes at colleges and universities. Lots of future criminals took huge advantage of that, as did many adversary nations wanting to insert operatives into the U.S. The Trump proposal would have ended it.
Trump proposed that after four years, foreign students would have to apply to extend their visas with DHS Seems pretty reasonable, so naturally the biden*harris regime quickly withdrew it.
The move comes as crime by student visa overstayers is up. Two weeks ago Khaled Awad, a 24-year-old from Egypt, stabbed a Boston rabbi a dozen times outside of a Jewish school. Awad entered the U.S. on a student visa in August 2019 but wasn't enrolled in classes as of May 2021, thus violating the terms of his visa. Under the Trump proposal he would have been deported.
Last year a Nigerian national, Ayoola Adisa Ajayi, pleaded guilty to murdering a 23-year-old University of Utah student in June 2019. The killer had entered the U.S. on a student visa in July 2009. He attended the University of Utah from 2009 to 2017 but never got a degree.
In 2014 he was able to secure a green card by marrying an American citizen. With the card secured, he promptly got a divorce. Five years later he murdered the Utah student.
