Virus tracking app installs itself without permission, and without notifying users, even defeats "parental consent"

Massachusetts officials recently announced the launch of a supposedly “voluntary” phone app called MassNotify, which they claim will monitor the spread of the Chinese virus in the state.  The app uses Bluetooth to detect nearby phones of people who've tested positive for the virus, and notifies the user.

The problem is, the app seems to install itself on residents’ and their kids’ smartphones *without their consent,* and without even notifying the owner.  It even installs on phones that have the "parental lock" feature enabled--a feature that has been touted as preventing app downloads without parental consent.

So...no notification, no consent, and even evades the "parental lock" feature.  Wow!

Hundreds of users have reported finding the app installed itself on their Android phones, without their prior knowledge or consent.  (No word yet on whether it installs automatically on iPhones.)

State authorities say the app was developed with the help of both Apple and Google, and claim it doesn't track users or their private information.  Authorities promise that the app won't share any location data or personal information with Google, Apple, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or other users.

Ah, well...in *that* case, no problem, eh?  Google, Apple and an ultra-left state develop a tracking app that installs itself on your phone without telling you or asking permission to do so.  Even evades Parental Consent that's supposed to keep apps off your kid's phone unless you specifically consent.  What's there to be worried about?  Cuz you must trust the state, and Google and Apple.  And Fauci.

There are lots of infuriating aspects here, but I think the most damning is that Google, Apple et al have proven that there's a way to defeat the "parental consent" feature was supposed to keep apps from getting on your kid's phone without your consent.  That means any other assholes can ALSO circumvent this protection.

Still think Big Tech is good?  If you're a liberal or Democrat, sure ya do.
