Pelosi's Dem-controlled house passes a bill killing "right-to-work" laws, outlawing contract workers and giving unions far more power
Democrats have always loved labor unions, mainly because the union bosses gave those Dems tens of millions of dollars every election, and would tell their members to vote Democrat.
Sweet, eh? And it gets better:
The union bosses then demanded ("asked") that Democrats repay their support by passing laws stating that whenever a union represented employees at a company, every new employee HAD TO JOIN THE UNION, and pay union dues to the bosses.
Wow, ain't that a deal? If you're a young American you never heard about that. And here you thought this was a free country. Not even close.
Roughly 30 states--ruled by Democrats--passed these anti-freedom laws. And no one said "Hey, how is this even remotely right?" The Media didn't say shit. The courts wouldn't touch it.
But ordinary working stiffs didn't like being forced to join a communist, Dem-supporting union, and said so. Finally, despite huge spending by unions seeking to prevent it, a few states--where the GOP controlled the legislature--passed so-called "right to work" laws, saying you didn't have to join the union to get a job.
As you could already guess, when such laws passed the union bosses were insane with anger, and repeatedly tried to REPEAL right-to-work laws. Usually those efforts failed, which made the union bosses even more insane with anger.
For the same reasons, unions strongly pushed California to ban "contract employees"--so that anyone who wanted a part-time job would be forced to be classified as an employee instead of a gig worker. This would force lots more people to join unions, which would be a big cash cow for union bosses--and Democrat politicians.
Now, with Democrats running every branch of government, the union bosses are about to get everything they've wanted. It's a huge gift for them--and a huge burden for ordinary Americans. The unions have gotten their Dem lackeys in congress to PASS (yes, it's already passed) a bill that would 1) give the unions more power; b) force companies to treat "contract workers"--like Uber and Lyft drivers--as employees; and c) give the unions LOTS more power.
Of course the unions are salivating at the prospect of making everyone who drives their own vehicle for Uber and Lyft a dues-paying union member.
Here's just one example of how the cunning Democrats camouflage language in bills to sneak in huge changes to society:
SEC. 111. Fair share agreements permitted.
Section 14(b) of the National Labor Relations Act (29 U.S.C. 164(b)) is amended by striking the period at the end and inserting the following: “: Provided, That collective bargaining agreements providing that all employees in a bargaining unit shall contribute fees to a labor organization for the cost of representation, collective bargaining, contract enforcement, and related expenditures as a condition of employment shall be valid and enforceable notwithstanding any State or Territorial law.”.
What that just did was make it LAW that unions could extort money from non-union employees to cover the cost of "contract enforcement and related expenditures," even if a state has a law barring that. Prior to this bill, courts had only allowed unions to extort money from employees for whatever percentage of dues the union spent on efforts that helped ALL employees, like safety issues. Now the Dems have added "contract enforcement and related expenditures," which are deliberately not defined. How "related" is paying for the boss to vacation at a 5-star hotel? Doesn't matter, they'll get it.
In other words, the Democrat-crammed law effectively kills right-to-work laws.
Hey, this one-party rule stuff is really cool, eh?
You've never heard about this bill before, yet it's already passed the Democrat-ruled House. And the senate is also controlled by Democrats, since that crazy socialist Kamala gets to vote whenever there's a 50-50 tie vote--which is every time there's a hot-button issue for the Dems, since they all vote the party line.
