Socialist Venezuela now printing a one-million Bolivar bill to cope with hyperinflation.

Beginning 25 years ago, leaders of the Democrat party began praising the socialist government of Venezuela.  Practically swooning over that nation electing a socialist president.  Our former president Jimmy Carter was once invited to observe an election there, and bloviated that it was totally fair.

Of course Carter wasn't allowed in the center where the alleged votes were supposedly tallied, but was in a small town far from the capital city.  But when he reported that everything seemed fair, our Mainstream Media took that as gospel, and didn't ask a single pointed question.

More recently the Dem leaders have tried to ignore Venezuela, since a) their economy has collapsed; b) almost 20 percent of the citizens have fled to neighboring countries; c) even with strict rationing, most shelves are bare; d) to stave off starvation, Venezuelans have eaten zoo animals; and e) hyperinflation has destroyed the value of any savings.

For young Americans, hyperinflation often results when a nation's leaders simply print as much currency as they want.  This causes prices to skyrocket.  For example, three years ago two eggs cost two weeks salary.  Going out to dinner required a duffle bag full of bills.

Years ago the national currency--the Bolivar--was worth around ten cents, but today a million Bolivars are worth about 53 cents.  So with prices rising so fast, no one wants to save money, since it's worth a lot less next week.

Inflation is so bad that Venezuela's socialist leaders said the nation will start printing bills for 500,000 and one million Bolivars.

The country’s economy has shrunk for seven straight years.

Again, for young Americans, the cause of hyperinflation is a) excess debt and b) the government printing gazillions of bank notes to keep funding its operations.

Wait...isn't that sort of what the U.S. government is doing?  Borrowing trillions to bribe voters, while extending economy-killing lockdowns?  Why yes, yes it is.

Wow, that's...a bit...disturbing.  Why is the government doing that?  Are all the politicians too damn dumb to see what happens to other nations that try this?

Actually a few may well understand this.  But like a junkie, they don't want to stop spending.
