80 percent of the homeless are drug or alcohol addicts, and/or are mentally ill. Some kill people. Solution? Ask NYC

New York City's pols love the homeless.  In 2019 the city spent an astonishing $3.2 Billion to house them.  The NYC "homeless coalition" claims that last December an average of 56,849 homeless people slept in the city's "shelter system" each night.

Wait...what does "shelter system" mean, exactly?

It includes the city paying hotels to house homeless people.  The city paid the Lucerne Hotel $237 per night to do that.

But according to the NY Post, the average hotel rate in the city right now is about $90 per night.  Interesting.

Say...I know this is a very cynical thought, but you don't suppose "connected" hotel owners would offer to rent rooms to the city for more than double the going rate just to make money, do ya?  But why would city "homeless officials" ever agree to pay more than double the average nightly rate, eh?

It's a mystery.
