Dems "Green New Deal" failed in congress, so they're doing it state by state

If you paid attention to politics before the Chinese virus hit, you should be familiar with a ghastly Democrat proposal called the “Green New Deal,” pushed by Democrat/communist congress-creep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York but also supported by virtually every Dem "leader," including the brilliant, demented Nancy Pelosi, Chuckie Schumer, Schiff and Nadler..  

But just in case the virus has clobbered your brain, the Democrats' proposal calls for totally banning the use of carbon-based fuel in the U.S.

"Wait, that's good, right?  I mean, carbon fuels produce the dread, poisonous gas "carbon dioxide," which they've told us will destroy the earth in just ten short years!!!!  So the Democrats are all that's standing between us and certain death!!"

Of course that's horse-shit, but half the country believes it, so the Dems are gonna ride that horse to the bitter end.  But what would banning carbon fuel actually do for or to Americans?

For starters, no more air travel for ordinary citizens.  Cuz last time I looked, jet airplanes burn kerosene, which is one o' dem awful carbon fuels.

Banning carbon fuel would also mean far higher electricity prices, since those fuels generate almost two-thirds of the nation's electricity.  But hey, you're happy to pay double what you're paying for electricity now if it saves the Earth, right?  And you believe the Dems that CO2 is killing the planet, right?

Fortunately the Dems' proposal didn't become federal law (which is what they were shooting for).  But Democrats never give up, and since they didn't get their law passed by congress, they've simply shifted their strategy to getting the same Green New Deal passed state by state.

It’s a smart tactic. They get friendly, left-leaning state legislators and governors, most of whom they financially backed in past elections, to introduce the bill.  You might expect such a move would draw media publicity, but the Dems' media wing knows to keep quiet, so voters don't know that the bill is moving toward passage.

That’s exactly how radical green groups want it.  And it worked for 'em in New Mexico, as Democrat governor Michelle Grisham signed the bill into law in March.  The soothingly-named “Energy Transition Act” requires New Mexico to move to 100 percent carbon-free energy, just like AOC demanded with the “Green New Deal.”

So-called "green groups" realized that voters hated the idea of adding a new “carbon tax” to every product, so they've cleverly changed the language of their law to “renewable energy mandates.”  Same results but doesn't scare voters by avoiding the word "tax." 

The end result is the same:  Ban low-cost energy (gas, oil and coal) and replace it with high-cost "renewable energy."  Force consumers to pay double for energy, but make that acceptable by telling 'em "It’s for the earth.”

Brilliant.  And in New Mexico, it worked.

It’s remarkable how such a ghastly, costly bill could be passed and signed into law so quickly with no public input.  By contrast, "green" groups routinely block projects they oppose by demanding lengthy "environmental impact" studies.  By using liberal judges, green groups can delay projects for decades.  Eventually the backers give up.

Green groups claim they're just pushing the Dems' "green New Deal" cuz they're fighting global warming climate change.  But the real goal is to ban low-cost energy, which would devastate the economy. 
 
When the Left find something that works for them, they'll do the same thing over and over.  They'll repeat the same strategy that won for them in New Mexico in other states.  It's a bureaucrats' dream.
