WaPo praises disbarred attorney--cited for contempt ten times--after he's elected to VA state senate
If you saw the following headline, would you think the paper that printed it thought well of the subject?
Morrissey was a member of Virginia's House of Delegates, but in March 2015 he was removed from that office after he filed to run for a state senate seat outside of his district. The guy simply ignores the law.
Oh sure, technically Morrissey is indeed the comeback kid, but any responsible paper would point out that the guy is a law-flouting scum.
Why didn't the Post do that?
Could it be because Morrissey is a Democrat, who--astonishingly--was just elected to the Virginia state senate?
A rational person would have a hard time believing voters would elect someone with Morrissey's record of dozens of instances of ignoring the law to the state senate. But the idiots in Dem-ruled Virginia did. (The senate district is so lopsidedly Democrat that the Republicans didn't even bother to run a candidate. Morrissey won by defeating a black female incumbent in the Democrat primary.)
But the Post wasn't finished--not by a long shot. They found a retired professor who claimed Morrissey's win was "another example of the populist wave that has swept the nation." That is, the Post found a way to discredit "populism"--a term often used to describe Trump voters--by including a quote describing the scum Morrisey as a populist.
Now, voters are well-known for voting for known crooks: Marion Barry and Alcee Hastings come to mind. But the Democrats who run the WaPo should know better than to praise this guy. And yet....
That was the headline used by the leftist, Dem-loving, Trump-hating Washington Post on June 11th of this year. The Post used the adulatory term "comeback kid." From that term, how many readers would guess that the subject of the article had had his law license revoked twice, had been cited for contempt of court ten times, had been jailed or arrested five times and had been convicted of perjury? With primary win, Joe Morrissey is Virginia’s newest comeback kid
