A town in the Peoples' Republic of New Jersey says they'll "charge" couple $50K for Christmas lights

The Peoples' Republic of New Jersey has been a corrupt cesspool of arrogant, overbearing government officials for decades.  Latest example: For 15 years a couple in the town of Old Bridge has been putting up an elaborate display of Christmas lights.

The couple says city officials told them that if they put up the same display this year the city would charge them $50,000, or $2000 for every day the lights would be on.

The couple said the mayor and police chief told them the charge was for "police security and bus transportation to reduce the traffic that the light show brings in each year."

Interesting.  It's a shakedown, pure and simple.  Lots of neighborhoods have huge Christmas light displays without "police security" or bus transportation.
