Deep-State mole in the Pentagon wants to let a leftist company manage all DoD data

You've probably heard of a group of treasonous subversives called the Deep State, which consists of career government employees who are hard-core leftists who are doing everything they can to sabotage every Trump initiative they don't like.  Which is to say, all of 'em.

Because most people who volunteer to serve in the armed forces want what's best for the nation, and are willing to work for that end, most of you understandably believe you wouldn't find many Deep State subversives in the Defense Department. Thus you may be surprised to learn that the Defense Department is loaded with Deep State leftists.

The reason they don't fit our expectations about the military is that with few exceptions they never served in the military.  Instead they're civilians--often with a known leftist, socialist or communist background--who were hired by fellow leftist civilians running Pentagon offices.  Not surprisingly, when a Muslim socialist like Obama appoints a Secretary of Defense, that person essentially sets the tone for all DoD hiring.

Like the 4 Deep State saboteurs caught on video by James O'Keefe recently, bragging about sabotaging Trump policies, these saboteurs try to weaken the military in thousands of ways--some large, some small.  Often it's by working with corrupt congresscritters to steer military procurement contracts to inferior or overpriced weapons systems, or to approve research contracts that are just goofy ideas.  Other instances of sabotage involve writing reports recommending that the military adopt an official policy of promoting the careers of homosexuals and transgenders, and even recommending that the military spend scarce funds to pay for sex-change operations for opportunists, instead of simply discharging them.

Generals who want to be promoted--which is to say, all of 'em--are keenly aware of how the political winds are blowing, and if the civilians who run the Defense Department want X, generals who want to earn that next star know to get behind whatever program that is.  Sucks, but it's true.

The latest example of a corrupt, wasteful idea being pushed by leftists is a move to hire a civilian company to manage ALL the data of the Defense Department– everything from weapon systems information to subcontractor phone numbers.  That's problematic enough, but the real problem is that some corruptocrat in the Defense Department has written a "request for proposal" to award a sole-source contract worth up to $10 billion.

For my college students, "sole-source contracts" are justifiably regarded with suspicion because they make the military totally dependent on the sole contractor.  Sometimes that's the only option, but with something like data management, it's not.

Another clue that things may be...odd...is when Pentagon spokescritters issue press releases saying things like "We're looking for an industry partner who will learn with us and help us find the best ways to bring foundational commercial capabilities to our warfighters."

"Bring foundational commercial capabilities to our warfighters"??  WTF??  And that was from the Pentagon's chief information officer.

Note the phrase "an industry partner," not "industry partners."  From the way the proposal was written it appears that the sole "partner" has already been quietly chosen--without bidding--and appears to be Amazon Web Services (AWS).

It's so clear that when details of the RFP were released, a potential rival bidder said "Everybody immediately knew that it was for Amazon," because it included provisions tailored for Amazon.

There is potentially far more at stake than the usual waste of taxpayer dollars.  As noted earlier, if only one company in the U.S. can provide X, a sole-source contract is reasonable.  But data manaagement isn't esoteric, so why choose Amazon?  An obvious possibility is that somebody in the chain of command wants to reward Amazon – which usually happens because the person steering the contract will be lavishly rewarded if it goes through.

Lawmakers are recognizing the problem.  Members of the House and Senate recently asked DoD to explain why the Pentagon went sole-source, and how it chose the contractor.

But aside from the usual waste there's a more serious threat from using Amazon for anything: This past June the company's leftist employees complained to company founder Jeff Bezos that they don't want Amazon to fulfill a government contract for facial recognition products... because they disagree with the Trump administration's immigration policies.

The leftist employees compared Trump to Hitler, and insisted that the company "should not be in the business of supporting those who monitor and oppress marginalized populations."  Since these are the same employees who would administer the military contract, the potential for leftist sabotage from the same people already complaining about working with the Administration should be obvious.

Putting national defense in the hands of a company founded and staffed by leftists seems so obviously insane as to not need explanation.  It'll be interesting to see if the plan goes thru anyway.
