Yet another death caused by a drunk-driving illegal

Sister Denise Mosier is dead.

The Catholic nun was killed around 8:30 Sunday morning in Prince William County, Virginia, by an illegal immigrant who was driving while intoxicated...at 8:30 in the morning.

Sister Mosier was killed while driving to a religious retreat at the Benedictine Monastery in Bristow, Va. Two other nuns with her were critically injured and were in critical but stable condition late Monday.

Carlos Montano was charged with involuntary manslaughter and drunk driving. Montano, an illegal immigrant, had been arrested two other times on drunken-driving charges, and on at least one of those occasions county police reported him to federal authorities.

Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified at the time of one of those arrests, but that at the time of the fatal accident he was out on his own recognizance.

Let's see if I've got that straight: It was Montano's third arrest for drunk-driving? But the Feds (those super-efficient folks at ICE) couldn't be bothered to hold him. So they just let him go??

The story notes in the Washington Times notes that "Messages left with ICE and the Homeland Security Department were not returned." What a surprise.

How charming. And how typical of the arrogance and apparent grandiose self-regard by the members of the federal establishment in this Era of Duh Won. "We don't need to respond to phone calls from critics, because you only work for a sorta'-kinda' newspaper. Now, if you were the WaPo or the NYT, we'd be much more responsive."

Anybody see anything wrong with this picture?
