The Reflecting Pool: vandalism and screaming Media headlines
Over the last two weeks, the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial has been mentioned over 800 times in various news media outlets. During the same period, the Islamic terrorist massacres of hundreds of Christians in Nigeria have only been mentioned around 40 times.
To the Mainstream Media the status of the reflecting pool is far more important than the lives of Christians in Nigeria because the pool is a chance to sneer that Trump is incompetent. And corrupt.
The other explanation is that U.S. Media--inveterate liars--don't want Americans to hear anything negative about Muslims, since that's who's killing the Christians in Nigeria. You can bet that if there were any transgender victims there, that would have made the network news here.
Like all the other formerly defaced monuments and fountains in DC, the reflecting pool looked awful, so repairing it shouldn't have been a contentious issue. But of course the Media always finds a way to bash Trump for everything..
Obozo spent $34 million to supposedly fix the pool, but the repairs proved woefully inadequate and shortly after the pool was filled, it had a massive algae outbreak and had to be closed and cleaned again. Republicans didn't sneer that Obozo was a moronic fuck-up. Or if one did, not a single word of it made it to the network evening newz.
Republicans and conservatives didn't bleat that the algae bloom was a disaster because a) no one heard about the algae; and b) Republicans understood that a shallow pool with a huge surface area (thus heat load) was idea for algae growth, so getting just that wasn't a sign of incompetence.
By sharp contrast, the Media and Dems are obsessed with sneering at anything Trump does. The media have been full of headline coverage. Typical hyperbolic nonsense: “Why the DC Reflecting Pool became a global talking point”
The steady drum-beat from the New York Times, the Washington Post, MSNBC (MS NOW) and CNN is the claim by them, the Left, and top Democrats that Trump ruined the reflecting pool.
Only after thousands of sneering stories about incompetence did we finally see--thanks to underwater cameras--that large sections of the blue lining had been cut with a knife or box-cutter. Video from the cameras revealed numerous cuts, and their artificiality was obvious: straight as an arrow for a few feet, then a sharp turn. Not consistent with simply "de-bonding."
Finally one dipshit leftist was caught by Park Service employees using both hands to tear off a big piece. He was indicted yesterday--but of course the damage had been done, in both senses. Win-win for the Dems again, eh?
But there's another indicator: phosphates. One of the networks filmed their female talking head filling a bottle with water from the pool, and they had it analyzed. Showed far higher phosphate concentrations than, for example, swimming pools.
What does that mean? The station didn't say, but phosphates aren't present in pure water. DC adds between one and 4.5 parts per million to reduce the amount of lead leached from pipes, but later we learn that water to fill the pool comes from the Potomac, which is worse. But CNN admits that the testing they had done "showed phosphate levels far higher than what is recommended to keep algae at bay based on estimates for a pool that holds 6.5 million gallons of water."
First, the amount of water in the pool isn't relevant. What matters is concentration. Phosphates are vital nutrients for algae. Pool experts say you need to keep phosphate concentrations below 1 part per million to control algae. But CNN reports that water to fill the pool is taken from the tidal basin, and no telling how many parts per million of phosphates is in that, eh?
The second problem is that despite CNN having the water tested by a pool service, and reporting "far higher [phosphate] levels than recommended" to control algae growth, CNN declined to tell what level was found in the water they had tested. Curious.
Oh well, I'm sure leftists didn't vandalize the beautiful reflecting pool to make it look bad. That's just conspiracy-talk, like stories about Orange Hitler bein' shot in the ear in Butler! Nonsense! All my frenz in duh Media sed dat not happen! Sed dat red stuff was fake blood! Too red! Sed he din' haz no hole in his ear a couple weeks later! All fake. See, leftists are peaceful, law-abiding pipo!
